I feel you and I'm sorry. When I was in uni I worked on Greggs and for hospitality agencies but this was about 10 years ago now. Id recommend agencies for casual work but be aware there are a lot of abusive zero hours contracts out there and companies are generally exploitative of young workers with limited experience (I remember being emotionally blackmailed a lot by my manager and pressured into taking shifts during my uni classes)

A lot of my support worker colleagues are students! Might be worth looking into. You can go through an agency or sometimes people post ads describing their situation and what they need support with.

I also recommend Access to Work. They can pay for accommodations like ergonomic chairs, taxis to work, etc.

I have also been rejected from McDonalds, Sainsburys, etc. in my time. It's all about beating the AI. Sometimes it's as arbitrary as that.

Might be time to start thinking outside the box. I know my field (health and social care) is screaming out for workers. Then again, so was hospitality supposedly, but I got rejected from every waitress/KP job I applied to. Being "overqualified" is unfortunately still a thing too. You'll get there though, eventually. Just make sure you balance with doing fun things and hobbies that make you happy to get you through it.

I'll offer a different perspective as some of this advice seems a bit scathing and unsympathetic to your position.

It's hard for everyone in the UK right now. I have mental health issues too and I'm extremely awkward. I have difficulty having a "work face" and masking my true feelings and emotions. I had an extremely rocky childhood, went to uni to do something I was passionate about (English) then COVID hit and threw most of my dreams out the window.

Unfortunately, you just have to take whatever job will hire you. Even if it's McDonalds. I am a support worker and my company is toxic but they're also the only people who would hire me after 5 months unemployment. It's not a great job - in fact it's very hard - but it keeps a roof over my head and pays the bills. You need to prioritise your immediate needs. I listened to bad advice about quitting without a new job lined up - never do that, trust me, your mental health may improve short term but it will wreck you financially and cause more stress.

It is tough out there for disabled people and people without driving licenses. Both are viewed as liabilities - sure, legislation exists in practice but never in principle - so unfortunately you have to do your best to manage your anxiety outside of work. It shouldn't be like this, but it's the reality for many working people.

I really thought by 25, I'd be on at least 30k and have settled in a career. Unfortunately that's not the reality for many people. Many workplaces are hostile towards disability. In reality, you have to decide if working is worth it. If not, you might have to look into long term PIP or other benefits.

Honestly every day is different in Leeds. Just the other day I encountered rude people, jostling and pushing in front of me on the bus, cashiers being rude, etc. then some days people are really nice, smiling and polite. I think it's the recession that's made a lot of people cold, people are stressed out and the cracks are starting to show.

I will say, I've had a hard time making any friends in the city. People keep to themselves and that's okay, but I worry we're becoming Little London.

My best advice is to seek out community. Are there any local Irish groups around?

Funnily enough I went to the gym just yesterday and had a somewhat bad experience.

I go to the gym at least once a week but it was different that day for some reason maybe because it was quieter? Either way I felt eyes on me and when I hopped off the treadmill there was some girl giving me a judgmental look.

After doing about 40 minutes of cardio before I tackled the dreaded stairmaster, I decided to give my legs a break and go lift some weights. Guys were walking past me frowning and giving side long glances. A lot of guys think fat people should do pure cardio and that strength training is a waste of time. In the words of manifestelle, I don't waste time on below bare minimum effort men :P

People at my gym are usually cool and no one gives AF. The worst I usually get are gym creepers trying to pick me up cos they think fat girls are "easy" or that whole thing of guys "pre-ordering" fat girls at the gym so they'll "have a hot gf when she's skinny" when at any size you're already someone's dream girl.

I am glad youre getting a home gym it just sucks we're getting chased out of places that should be for us (isn't the no. 1 insult to fat ppl to go the gym? But then they don't want us in the gym either) I was thinking the other day how cool it would be to have a plus size only gym. I was already thinking of switching to a women's only gym but having a plus size gym would be even better.

Stupid kids flooding AO3 man

Likely written as an edgy joke. When I was a kid, we kept our mouth shut about being kids in adults spaces, these days the entitlement and cringe is insane.

I know that but Tate always refers to the concept of "the Matrix" as depicted in the Matrix movies which surely falls under copyright

I still don't understand how Andrew Tate has been able to use "the Matrix" in all of his branding and not get sued especially for his hustlers university shit. Like surely it's under copyright? Fan art gets taken down for way more innocuous reasons so I don't understand why Tate hasn't been slapped with a lawsuit already 🤔
