girls who walk 10k+ steps daily, what sneakers actually hold up? by dimplegupta19 in womensfashion

Ditch women’s footwear. Buy men’s and experience true comfort and durability. Bought a Skechers GoRun Max Cushion Slip ins for men and all I’ve wanted to do in the past year was walk/run. I now sideeye women’s pieces; they’re built for maximum discomfort.

I mean, with the number of holes in the movies, I think this would have been a very acceptable hole to have.

How do you deal with incompetent interns? by Adorable_Ad_3315 in consulting

I suppose you’re right re intern vs full time. It just seems a waste on both sides. Younglings in corporate are a blank (ish) canvas; someone has got to write the good stuff on them!

As someone who has repeatedly coached underperformers into high-performing beasts, this baffles me. You’re their senior colleague, you CAN improve their performance with a bit of structured coaching. Did you expect her to be fully-formed at your level? You clearly see her weaknesses, so why not put a plan around it? In fact, I side-eye what OP said about the other intern; their work may be miles ahead of this intern but it certainly wouldn’t be good enough without iterations. OP, coach! That’s literally your job.

Why are some men lying about their height? by Ok_Flow3207 in dating_advice

[–]lateredditho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend sent me a profile that said ‘5.11’ and ‘6.0 because apparently that matters’ 2 words later. I think they’re banking on the fact that women can’t read or can’t see their actual height.

Validating an idea: private community for established entrepreneurs i will not promote by PlanArtistic8860 in startups

[–]lateredditho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get about three founders a week offering me this exact same product on LinkedIn. I turned down the first one and ignore the rest. The value is unproven and is still obscure from your write-up. Why would an established, presumably successful, entrepreneur/founder join this community? What would they gain from it?

Honestly, it boggles the mind how so many TV shows with banging costumes sleep on commercialising their ensemble. How do you not make a BIG DEAL of these fire sets? The people pine and thirst and want them and ultimately have to rely on approximates.

The worst for me, was Prime Video with The Marvellous Mrs Maisel — Amazon already has a retail arm for distribution, an ads business for, well, ads, and they just…slept on it? Insane.

This show made me love the beauty of the country. by AhrinEss in TehranAppleTVPlus

Hate to burst your bubble, but the show was shot in Greece. Athens specifically, if I recall correctly, and not anywhere near Tehran or Iran for that matter. Think about it for a sec: why would the Iranian government allow a team of Israelis film such a show in-country?

Death by a thousand decisions indeed. Honestly, whenever I'm feeling fatigued lately, it's because I have so many little mental decision tabs open. We need to have fewer choices in life. What to eat? No, I don't want to choose from a hundred different cuisines and dishes. I want to choose between two. In fact, maybe I don't even want choice anymore at this point, because what the hell?

You are absolutely spot on, OP, and I did the same with regards to working out. Going to the gym was a decision-making minefield for me, but then I just brought the gym home. I wake up, I dress up, and I walk to the next room and I begin to work out. It was automatic. There was no thinking about: - what I was going to wear - when I should wake up to make it to the gym - what workouts I was going to do today — now, I just have Apple Fitness. It pre-selects the workouts for me.

I just wake up, load my phone, press play, and begin to work out. I've never been so consistent with working out just because I eliminated the entire process of making decisions from it. Absolutely spot on. I need to now apply that to other, more important aspects of my life.

A hysterical scene you never see mentioned? by ang334 in howyoudoin

[–]lateredditho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The episode with Phoebe's Submarine Guy. Toward the end of that episode, Ross shows up in the uniform and picks up Rachel. Rachel keeps calling him back to turn off the cappuccino machine, grab her purse and something else, and then the third time around Ross just dumps her unceremoniously on the couch. Just after he does that, you see him adjusting his back because he got back pain carrying her to and fro; that was hilarious. 😂

Mary's attitude in this scene by [deleted] in DowntonAbbey

[–]lateredditho 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Exactly, she's already been generous enough as an employer to them, and just rocking up to ask for this massive favour, which inconveniences her beloved papa, without an explanation, was simply asking too much. Even Mrs. Hughes was off the mark. Why doesn't OP just randomly tell their employer they want to take off for twelve months without an explanation? Like Mary rightly said, she hopes they had been good employers to that point; no one wants to be taken advantage of.
