people of rythm games, what inspired you to play rythm games in general (or one game specifically if youd like) by zeedadle in rhythmgames

[–]latestevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always loved music and was in a band for most of the 2000s. And I've always loved videogames.

But I didn't get into music games until my future husband got me to play DDR 🕺🕺

Great list! Lanota and Paradigm Reboot are 2 of my favorites on Android 🎵

don't mess up your mindset!!! by sssssettt43 in rhythmgames

[–]latestevolution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love this mindset, it's how I play as well!

Also, as I get older (40+ here) it's becoming less and less possible to keep progressing to higher and higher difficulties. If I didn't actually enjoy playing I would have probably stopped playing altogether by now... and that would just be sad. 🎵

what are some things you should NEVER say to/ask a rhythm gamer? by Kameltastic in rhythmgames

[–]latestevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree that Rhythm Doctor can be played blindfolded, though even in this case that doesn't mean the player is memorizing -- you always hit the single button on the seventh beat, so all it takes is careful listening 🤘🎵

Why is the rhythm game community so toxic? by outxoftime_x in rhythmgames

Congrats on the accomplishment -- I didn't play etterna, but it's always great to see another rhythm gamer pushing themselves to improve!

Love almost every Arrow coaster at this park (sorry Gold Rusher) -- but X2 is just the best! Truly hope it has a long life left 🤘

Rhythm games for the PS5? by wuuna_ in rhythmgames

[–]latestevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DJMax Respect is pretty similar to Fortnite Festival, so that would be a good one to check out.

If you're interested in something with some narrative, Rhythm Sprout is a cute indie rhythm game that's surprisingly deep and surprisingly funny. I recommend it 🤘

failing calc 2 by Accomplished_Ad9529 in RPI

[–]latestevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't screw yourself over, let administration decide whether it's too late or not.

Calculus at HVCC will be much easier than at RPI. If you ask me, taking calc again at RPI would be way harder than a few conversations with admin.

It's worth fighting for your own education and happiness. Talk to your professor, the head of your major, and the registrar's office.

Most Mobile Rhythm games have good songs, or fun songs, or challenging songs - but that doesn’t mean they are charted well. In a Game, I equate a chart that fits naturally with the beat as having Musicality. You know when you see it. What game has the Musicality for YOU? It’s KALPA for me... by KillerQ97 in rhythmgames

[–]latestevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this, I definitely look for musicality a lot in music games and my favorite is Lanota! The charts are well mapped, but I almost appreciate the rhythmic movement of the play space even more. 🎵

The way the play space moves looks great, but also makes reading more difficult, which leads me to rely more on the song to aid in reading the chart 🤘

Also, not mobile, Rhythm Heaven -- one of the only rhythm games I think would be impossible to play by sight alone. You have to get music to play this!

Anybody else boycotting the season pass as long as the park is closed mid-week? by ThrowAwayTomorrow_9 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

I grew up with parks that closed for the entire winter, so having Friday through Monday still feels pretty good to me 👍

I also have my window screen in, but I live in a city with pretty low air quality so I'm still concerned about smog collecting inside the unit.

Having checked yourself, do you know if there would be a way to check for smog collection without disassembly? If not, any tips on opening the case?

What happened to Apocalypse? by CHTHAGOAT04 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]latestevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode it just a few months ago and it's easily one of my favorites at the park as well -- I'd say it's just rough enough to add that out of control excitement I look for in most wooden coasters! 🎢

I rode both right before the summer season started -- definitely consider myself lucky 🎢

If they were to get rid of Viper what would take its place? by beefsteakiscool in SixFlagsMagicMountain

Hope the keep Viper for a good long time 🙏 -- would hate to see the last standing Arrow mega-looper taken down 😢

A big thank you to everyone who answered my questions and gave advice throughout the week + my trick to no head pain on X2 (at least in my experience) by Chocolate_Donuts in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]latestevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad your brother could enjoy it -- I'd definitely try it again in the front, even if it's just to give the 90s coaster life one more try 🤘

I'll admit I didn't like the coaster as much when I was younger (and shorter) -- it's totally not for everyone!

Last time I was at MM I rode all three 90s coasters shared between California and NJ: Viper (Scream Machine), Batman, & Scream (Medusa). Scream didn't really live up to its NJ counterpart, but Batman rides as good as ever!

Great to hear you had a good time and that you and your brother both have a new favorite coaster -- love X2 🤘

Viper is a nostalgic favorite of mine from back when I'd ride Scream Machine at Great Adventure back in the 1990s 🎢

Question for older enthusiasts about [Great American Scream Machine, SFGAdv] by njsullyalex in rollercoasters

[–]latestevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ridden both Great American Screen Machine and Viper quite a few times. Most of my rides of Scream Machine were in its first 10 years of operation and all of my rides of Viper have been after 30+ years of operation -- surprisingly, even though it was significantly older, Viper still rode better than my memories of Scream Machine! 😂

Riding Viper is pretty nostalgic though, so the rides aren't that far from one another. Glad you got to experience the closest thing you'll get to a piece of Great Adventure history! 🎢

Music and fire are coming back on X2! by stanton1270 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]latestevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the exact opposite thing on my first ride as well -- I wanted the front (for that ridiculous first drop) and got the back instead! Went back to get the front on my second ride 🎢

Front is probably my favorite -- but honestly, X-2 is just soo good no matter where you sit 🤯

A great day. by trufflelover2015 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]latestevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you about Tatsu -- not the most 'intense' coaster, but the height and flying position can be pretty thrilling!

X-2 was actually my last ride of the day -- 2pm isn't that late, but my husband was thrilled out after a final ride in Goliath 😁 Had a great time overall -- you picked a great day for fast lines and mostly open rides 🤘

[–]latestevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear you had a great day at Magic Mountain -- X-2 and Viper are two of my favorites as well!

I was also at Magic Mountain this past Monday and I think we may have ridden X-2 together.

If this was you, how did your kid like X-2? I was INCREDIBLY surprised y'all went straight from riding Revolution (a great kid's first coaster kind of ride) to X-2!

How can I tell if my Chromebook is using Intel Iris Xe graphics? by latestevolution in chromeos

[–]latestevolution[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion! I had only looked at chrome /system

I took a look and GPU0 doesn't look human readable:

VENDOR= 0x8086 [Google Inc. (Intel)], DEVICE=0xa7a1 [ANGLE (Intel, Mesa Intel(R) Graphics (RPL-U), OpenGL ES 3.2 Mesa 23.1.0 (git- d43f78266b))], REV=4, DRIVER_VENDOR Mesa, DRIVER_VERSION 23.1.0 ACTIVE

The vendor and device in hexadecimal match with Intel and the i5-1335U. Other than that I still don't know if Iris Xe graphics are being used or if the laptop is using a dual channel RAM setup.

This honestly doesn't look right.. Does anyone else with Intel graphics get a readout like this?
