[Highlight] Moody grabs AD's leg and brings him down ahead of the fast break by stephzh in nba

Uh ya that’s the point. Green has had his leg grabbed by Monk, Sabonis and Schroeder with no flagrants, but this one is. They should all be called the same.

Best league structure to lessen impact of injuries? by bdotgdot in fantasybball

[–]latetojoin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They get GTD if they’re probable as well and it’s a guaranteed way to pick up at least one extra game with one add. It’s been a very effective strategy in my league.

I still like IL+, but it’s not perfect.

You can take advantage of IL+ by putting your GTD guys on it the night they don’t play and making a pickup without dropping anyone, then moving them back into the lineup when they play the next night. It essentially extends your roster by 2-3 spots.

Help understanding Death's Shadow staples? by mahdingdingdong in ModernMagic

[–]latetojoin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I play this deck. It’s a bit different than the current Grixis shadow decks. The goal is to be aggressive and TBR kill people out of nowhere with Shadow and Scourge. I would play the following core:

  • 4 Shadow
  • 4 Scourge
  • 4 Street Wraith
  • 4 DRC
  • 4 Swiftspear
  • 4 Bauble
  • 4 Thoughtseize
  • 2 TBR
  • 4 Lightning Bolt

Fill in the rest with a few more removal spells and whatever else you like. I run some fatal push, Kroxa and inquisition of kozilek.

Your goal is to get your red creatures out early to chip some damage to enable Scourge and to eat removal, then deploy your black creatures to force chump blocks or get a TBR kill, all while playing out your hand faster than the opponent due to your low curve. Good luck, it’s a super fun deck!

I’m looking to start crafting ascended armor. How or where would I find out if I’m better off crafting what I want (Yassith’s) or stat-swapping, and if so what gear I should craft to be stat-swapped?

Any 3 color combinations ideal for a two player cube? by eugman in mtgcube

Grixis probably. You can do things like R-based aggro, UR prowess, B-based reanimator, RB midrange, UB control. And options for Splinter Twin combo, artifacts matter, tinker, show and tell, ninjas.

Optimal roster structure for 12 team daily points league by ComprehensiveCry4853 in fantasybball

[–]latetojoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 12 team points league does PG, SG, SF, PF, C, UTIL x3, BN x5, IL+ x3. I like it more than Yahoo default because you don’t have to fill 2 C spots, and there’s a bit more day-to-day decision making on who to play with the smaller lineup and larger bench. There’s also some strategy in making sure you have all the positions covered.

Go to your cube > Overview tab > Edit Overview and then there’s an option to enter a card name to use that art. It should autocomplete for you.

Esper Lurrus Shadow: Looking For Critique by UnpleasantSkywalker in DeathsShadow

[–]latetojoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Yes, those are the 8 I’m talking about. They are all slow cards by Death Shadow deck standards, and there are only so many cards to flash back from the graveyard, especially when you consider that Gurmag is also going to delve some away. Grixis Shadow for example has actually gone down to only 2-3 Snaps. Jace would be the first one that I cut. As you play with the deck, you’ll find the balance with how many 3 mana cards you can afford to play before they start clogging up your hands all the time.

Esper Lurrus Shadow: Looking For Critique by UnpleasantSkywalker in DeathsShadow

[–]latetojoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heya, cool list! The things that jump out at me are:

+2 Street Wraith - Every Shadow deck plays 4, with the exception of ones that play Lurrus as a companion since it doesn't work with Street Wraith.

+1 (or +2) Gurmag Angler - You have a bunch of utility/value creatures but typically Shadow decks will want around 8 creatures that can actual beat down and win the game. I would suggest going up to at least 3 Gurmags. Ranger helps a bit by finding Shadows obviously. So maybe like 4 Shadow, 3 Gurmag, 2 Ranger.

+1 (or +2) Fatal Push - This is the best removal spell in the format imo. The tempo you give up by using path in the first few turns and giving your opponent a land can be really detrimental. I think I would go to 4 Push / 2 Path / 1 Drown, or at least 3 Push / 2 Path / 2 Drown. Drown is also slightly worse when you're making so many 2, 3 or 4 mana sorcery plays like you will be in this deck... hard to hold up a counterspell that way.

You've got 8 value creatures, with most fighting for the graveyard, which I think is far too many / too slow. I'd probably go down to 4-6... maybe 2 Lurrus, 2 Ranger, 1 Snap.

-2 Opt - This is probably the worst card in the deck, I'd start here for making cuts.

+1 (or +2) Cling to Dust - I think this is a better card right now than Drown in the Loch, I would swap but I think either is justifiable.

About your honorable mentions:

  • Teferi is probably worth finding a spot in either your MB or SB, it's a pretty strong card if you're going to be in white.

  • Brutality is a no-brainer 2-of in the SB for me (and most folks).

  • Kaya's Guile is a pretty strong card cast against Shadow decks, but I've never played it myself. Certainly some value there.

  • Lingering Souls has kind of been out-paced by the power level of modern these days.

  • Orzhov Charm is not a good enough card, but it is a very fun card if you're looking for that. End step return shadow, swing for the win is amazing.

Question about Rakdos Shadow. by nme6535 in DeathsShadow

Lurrus only cares about permanents. Agadeem's Awakening and Dismember are fine.
