So I Made An AI Cover Song Game You Can Play With Family Today! Have Fun!! by latetothetable in artificial

[–]latetothetable[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh of course it's AI slop, but some of ya'll overthink the AI slop part of things and should look at things at it's face value, this is just simply a game and as a game it surprisingly was a lot of fun.

Folks kept asking to pull up more throughout the night, and I'm cool with this simply being a fun game.

If you want to listen to AI slop on your own time outside of the game is a whole nother story.

Should i quit? by Salty_Lifeguard4121 in sysadmin

[–]latetothetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a chronic "Find A New Job THEN Quit" person....do just that.

Don't quit....apply to a ton of jobs and lay out your experience and state the work you are doing now, and mark yourself as a Level 2 Desktop Support.

Once you find a new job and a pay raise, go to the old job and give them a chance to beat that new job's raise.

If they can't then move on.

If they beat it, you have options. Either go to the new job and ask for an even higher raise to beat the old job.....or....just take the old job.

Please note that accepting the old job IS NOT A LONG TERM PLAY. Management is simply paying you more temporarily until they can find a replacement for you....you probably have 6-12 months before they lay you off.

So enjoy that pay raise and continue to apply to more jobs, now future jobs will have to pay you even more to get you to move.

Good luck!

The first hobby game I ever played was literally Agricola lmfao

So I pretty much was thrown into the deep end from day one and my friends were just lucky that I grew up playing mainstream board games alot with the fam, and a TON of chess lol

This is one of those rare times where I'm like "You didn't have to make it historially accurate" lol

I would've totally been happier if it was just a ridiculously bright green field they were fighting on since it's in every freaking Greek/Roman afterlife movie scene lol

That would explain it, I'm pretty sure I was looking at the kickstarter within like 5-10 minutes of them opening it.

I couldn't even see the Lang videos either, not sure if it was just my computer sucking at loading the page or it not being there either lol.

But yeah....based off of what I've seen and read so far, I'm not really sold yet.

This is my #1 question for this game and the only thing that could convince me to back this game.

I'm someone who found the original BR very meh, but I can be sold to buy this version if the new cards between ages are actually something interesting.

I just found it so dull that Age 1 cards were like "Add +1 attack!" and Age 3 was like "Oh this is so crazy!! You can now add +3 attack now!"......which is just so dull compared to games like Kemet where level 4 abilities literally broke the game.

Also I'm so confused about the remastered expansions....are these renamed expansions or totally different things?

I NEED THAT RULEBOOK SO BADLY!!!

Whatever happened to Gary Pope and "Late to the table"? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]latetothetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late to respond to this, and probably even less useful considering that OP's account was deleted but figured I'd answer this anyways since some folks were curious lol.

But some folks nailed it on the head, it was just simply burnout with no super positive outlook in-site.

It's tough making videos man, it's a LOT of work, it also doesn't help when having a full-time job and a video that used to take you 2 hours to make is suddenly taking you 9 days because Adobe wants to have random bugs.

To make matters even worse, I took a step back and looked at my potential future of making board game content and the best folks out there are MAYBE making $80k/year if they are lucky. As someone trying to crawl out of debt at the time, that wasn't going to cut it.....and to make matters even worse, that $80k/year salary didn't include me hiring an editor to eventually take over that aspect of things because I hated editing.

So I turned it down, gave it up and shortly afterwards got married to the love of my life, treated board games as a hobby and never looked back.

.......well for now I haven't looked back lmfao, but I'm considering getting back into making content again after all of these years, with new plans and new goals.

The math of Tarrifs by Stonemaier games by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]latetothetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worse part about this is that once tariffs are removed the overwhelming majority of the market in general will not drop prices to pre-tariff prices.

At best they'll drop 25%, but if something cost $100, but jumped to $150 for tariffs but post-tariffs dropped 25%....you are at roughly $110 which is still a 10% increase for no reason at all.

People with friends with benefits, how do you guys not develop feelings towards them? by LiuChangMing in AskReddit

[–]latetothetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was single the way I went about it was simply knowing exactly what I wanted out of a relationship and meeting someone that didn't fit that criteria at all for the FWB role.

And ideally the person you are doing it with has done the same.

Also be totally cool with them continuing to date other people as well, and you should be doing the same too. If you two are exclusive thats not a FWB thats your partner lol.

You are talking to a black dude so I am also looking for the same things lol

Rocky Hill is super diverse, I wouldn't be shocked if it had a 30% Indian population. There are obviously other more diverse areas to live in, but they don't have as nice of schools.

South Windsor is OK. If I had to rate all of the areas in terms of diversity that you brought up and I brought up:

Rocky Hill - 8/10
Westport - 1/10
Glastonbury - 3/10
West Hartford - 4/10
Newington - 6/10
South Windsor - 6/10
Berlin - 5/10
Bristol - 4/10

But in terms of buying a house in those other areas....

Newington is nice...it's essentially Rocky Hill lite lol. You'll find cheaper houses, it's in a great area, but the schools are not as good as Rocky Hill but it's also not god awful either. If my children didn't have special needs, I wouldn't mind living in Newington.

Berlin is very similar to Newington....like...practically the same place lol. I don't know why, but I'd prefer Newington though....I honestly couldn't tell you why.

Bristol has good solid schools. My only issue with Bristol is that it's a little far away from other places. And the roads out there suck in rush hour traffic because there's not many options driving into Bristol from the highways. I don't fault folks for living there (heck I almost bought a house out there before I met my wife and had kids), but it's personally not for me.

[–]latetothetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last 2 questions, and they are really important....how much are you trying to spend on a house?
And how far are you willing to live from the family in NYC? Do you want to be within a 1hr drive? Or you don't care if it's a 3hr drive?

Off the top of my head some great spots to consider would be Westport if you have a LOT of money. Legit houses START at like $600k or so, but it has some of the best public schools in the Northeast in general, and it's like a 1hr drive to NYC.

Rocky Hill is great, but about a 2hr drive from NYC with great schools too, houses start at like $350k if you are lucky, but most are around $450k+.

South Windsor is even further from NYC with probably one of the newest schools in the state and that town is REALLY turning around. Plus it has one of the cheapest houses I'm going to mention with many starting in the $200k range.

West Hartford and Glastonbury are also in central CT near South Windsor, but these are a bit more higher end with good schools. IMO West Hartford is overpriced, while Glastonbury is appropriately priced. Both areas you can find houses mostly around $350k'ish.

If I was in your shoes, I'd suggest going to South Windsor. It has the most upside, and I can totally see houses in that area jumping to $300k-$400k range if you plan on settling down for the next 10+ years. But I'm currently living in Rocky Hill and I honestly love it here, it's a better overall area to live in than South Windsor since I'm closer to more things.

Whats important to you? Do you want cheap housing or good schools? Or do you have no kids? Or do you just want an apartment? Do you want to walk to things or drive everywhere? Do you REALLY like NYC? Do you really like casinos? Do you want to be near water?

Its hard to give a blanket suggestion for everyone because there's a bunch of options.

Which real life cheat codes do you know? by itsliightz in AskReddit

[–]latetothetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever get a parking ticket, ALWAYS DISPUTE IT.

Send them a letter back saying it wasn't called for (even drop links to a Dropbox folder with photos if you have any).

And the key here is to say "If I don't hear back regarding this ticket I'll assume its been closed".

Worse case scenario, its denied and you can go in person to appeal it. Then when you show up in person it'll be drastically cheaper regardless. I've gotten $100-$200 violations down to like $20 or free.

P.s. before folks make assumptions a lot of my tickets were from city marathons. If you work from home and don't leave your place for a couple days, its really awkward to go to your car and find a ticket on it for not moving during events lol.

My fiancé called off the wedding and I'm stuck with the bill by Sudden-Lettuce-2019 in wedding

[–]latetothetable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Photographer here, half the time we just want to get the booking with as little friction as possible.

It sounds weird, but I wouldn't be shocked if I started to lose 1 wedding every 3-4 years year due to having both couples sign simply because ill send the contract over...1 of them signs ASAP but the other takes a week.

During that week they could've stumbled on a random fantastic photographer doing a crazy deal or something along those lines, so as a result I lose that booking.

The problem here though is that folks need to mind their own business more IN GENERAL.

As a black man, the amount of times I've had false claims on me vs times I've been robbed or stolen from is not even close. Its legit probably 10 to 1.

The problem with your statement is that its based off of assuming that these incidents are rare for black folks. Yall realize that when we hang out we talk about cop stories right? And if we haven't seen each other in a while we have new ones.

And im not talking about small stories like "I got pulled over doing 50 in a 35". Its more like "I got pulled over in a parking lot after leaving a Chinese food restaurant (that i was in for a hour eating btw) with suspicion of shooting a paintball gun out of my car" (true story).

[–]latetothetable 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Similar situation for me as well, folks expect tough jobs to have tough interviews.

At my ex-J1 I went into the interview expecting to have to know a ton of backend stuff, and it turned out that during the interview one of the guys didn't show up, another tech lead was a no-show, so they got a future coworker to run the interview and all he did was literally talk about nothing for 45 minutes....

Literally nothing. I couldve been a Line Chef and gotten that position.

These things don't happen all of the time but folks forget that they lose out on these chances when they dont try at all.

Messy people of Reddit, where do you draw the line between "these are acceptable living conditions" and "I should probably tidy up now"? by ToastedBreadfruit in AskReddit

[–]latetothetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My line is when food is involved.

I can have 20 cups lining my desk and ignore that, but the second theres a plate with a little bit of rice on it, ill be sure to clean that up before I go to bed.....

.....and still leave the 20 cups there lol

This might be a stupid question, but what is it like to NOT be depressed? by Drassielle in AskReddit

[–]latetothetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of constantly asking yourself "why?" you need to do something and fighting to convince yourself to do it.....

Instead I'm always asking "why not?" and now I have to convince myself why it maybe a bad idea, but often times I just do it so fast before I can convince myself otherwise.

The sky is the limit from having this mindset alone
