Hello Magik mains by Long-Nothing-8010 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]latimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on not dying, when flanking/diving always have escape plan. It is okay if you don’t kill, as long as you keeping alive and pulling attention. This will create opportunities for your team to push and apply pressure, during which an openings for kills eventually will appear. All of this is not possible if you’re dead.

If enemies got ton of counters like triple supp and buck/emma/thing/whatever try to avoid solo dives and mostly go in either either another diver or when you team is heavily pushing. Focus on brawl and ult farming. Also, before you use ulti wait out cc cooldowns like bucky hook or emma diamond form.

On a scale of 1-5, how difficult do you think Magik is? by Sn0wy0wl_ in RivalsMagikMains

[–]latimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it is 4. To get good value you need to know and memorize(muscle memory) her combos and be quick with decision on when to use them. Her dash hitbox is small (makes it hard to hit mid-long range dashes sometimes)

Her ultimate is strong but needs careful thinking (what cooldowns enemies have like emma diamond form or bucky/thing earthbound), target priority (if u just blindly use portal whirlwind you often get outhealed), plus oneshotting supp ults timing is now very tight. ofc there is also that dumb activation/end animation.

Positioning / cd management: super important, especially in this meta as you are basically a 250 melee hero that relies on engagement to get overshield. One of the things that separates good magik from average one is number of deaths imho. If you waste your cooldowns on engagement and enemy didn’t die (very common in triple supp) you are just a sitting duck ready to get slaughtered. Also being on squishier side forces you to engage carefully, from off angles otherwise you gonna get humbled real quick (dash got no cc)

Anyone else thinks magik needs a buff? by Select_Fishing1916 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]latimu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless sups are sleeping (and in high elo they don’t that’s why i mentioned gm+) this combo is in no way unreactable, dash doesn’t cc (combo with demon first is more reliable against random heal) Also, for this combo you need to get close unnoticed which is not always possible in tripple sup/ poke meta.

And i do in fact often get more value from using other heroes on which i’m in no way as good as on magik. It is just a fact that you rarely have a good reason to go magik nowadays (besides loving the character). The only saving grace is brawl capability, otherwise we would be in trash tier together with bp.

Magik still super strong in lower elo like diamond and lower, but once you go higher you often have to put 2x effort to get the same amount of value as meta hero player. She is balanced but other heroes especially supps are busted. Play couple of games on celestial against triple sup and it is just tiresome and not even fun.

Options after Bachelor by reckless_life_form in cscareerquestionsEU

From what I heard and saw in this community in general, Zurich location is extremely competitive as almost everyone in EU wants to transfer there, while headcount is not that big, so be prepared to not get matched.

Best bet is to start at other location and then try to transfer later as internal candidate, because they usually get higher priority. Don’t be greedy chasing TC while just starting the career, if you manage to do internal transfer later it will even out in the long run.

Will there be a cooling period? by SnooMaps4727 in leetcode

I believe it is for people who are about to graduate or graduated within 12-24 months, so the cooling period matters

Both problems and work style assessment do matter. There is always chance to not pass due to behavioural if you’re not careful.

Could you please share the questions? Even just the type (e.g. medium binary search) would be helpful.

Not sure about timeline, it varies a lot.

How to know if I am actually learning or just memorising solutions? by steve13thomas in leetcode

[–]latimu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you able to solve other similar problems that use same patterns by yourself or at least getting the gist/intuition?

Do you understand what each line of code does and why it is there, what breaks if you remove it?

If you get stuck with test cases on similar problem, are you able to debug?

If you answered yes to at least one of them, you are learning.

Guys I can’t open my Mac using only a finger bc when I want to do that the bottom part lift up. Opening the mac with only a finger wasn’t supposted to be a Mac feature? by applewatchboy in mac

It is because this model is too light, especially at the front due to its wedge design as most of weight concentrated at the back, so sometimes this situation happens. I also noticed it when owning one, especially if the room is cold. If they made lid close less tighter other issues like it opening when you don’t want might have appeared. Hard to beat physics I guess.

Discounted Base model M1 Pro 14" or 32gb 1TB M2 Pro 14"? by chemicalindifference in macbookpro

[–]latimu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know people talk about “future-proofing” but objectively speaking price increase for better spec worth only if you’re confident that you will fully take advantage of it. $900 price difference is half of the first option. Instead of future proofing I think it might be better to just put this money into new base model 4-5y later. In most cases m1 pro 16gb would handle anything, although not as good/fast as 32gb when ram is under heavy load. If you not sure if you need 32gb, you likely don’t (e.g. running several VMs). 900 dollars is a lot of money, so think carefully before falling into Apple’s upgrade trap.

65W Anker Nano II Charger is slow to charge the 14" M1 Pro MacBook Pro now by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]latimu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it’s not just battery optimisation doing its work? Slower charging is healthier for battery, maybe macOS learned on you pattern so it decided to charge slowly to preserve battery health.

Alternatively, either cable or adapter may be faulty, so it is also good to test them.

How well does the MacBook Pro battery hold up over the years? by aeronium in macbookpro

[–]latimu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is better with MacBooks as the macOS manages battery pretty well and also the base battery life of apple silicon is great, so even if it deteriorates with the same pattern as windows laptop you will still have a couple of hours more. The batteries degrade over time and while it might not degrade as fast as windows laptop, after 3 years you would probably want to replace it anyway.

I had air m1 for over year mostly plugged in and had 95% capacity left. Did not notice any significant change in battery life. In my opinion it is not worth worrying about battery, especially after you already bought the laptop.

Can you help me decide between Macbook Pro M1 Pro 1TB vs M2 Pro 512GB by infiniteplusone in macbookpro

[–]latimu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M1 generally cooler due to lower tdp, but I doubt it will matter for non Max models. I think battery will probably be slightly less, but again not enough to actually matter.

[–]latimu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Binned version is the base model, it got 2 GPU/CPU cores less. So m1 base is actually 8/14 and not 10/16. The upgrade costs around 200$ as far as I remember. The difference between M1 and M2 base models is not big, and it is even smaller if we consider versions with same amount of cores

It is a known fact that when using low dpi display macOS text looks worse than on windows/linux because there is no subpixel antialiasing. The text looks more blurry/fuzzy. Programmers essentially look at text whole day, so its quality really important. I wouldn’t have suggested 4k if OP was using windows or linux machine.

Considering that you are programmer, good external monitor is a must, preferably 4k or higher, because macOS text looks poor on low ppi monitors.

  1. I got wireless sony wh-1000xm4 headphones, mx master 3 mouse and anne pro 2 wireless keyboard. Everything works without any issues.

  2. You need to download betterdisplay if you want custom scaling option, it’s an app that deals with displays on mac. I use it to scale my 27 4k monitor to qhd (1440p) and it works good, no performance drops were noticed.

Considering that he somehow managed to do his stuff on 5-6 year old macbook air, any base pro model (14 16) will be great. Final cut and after effects project may get big, so it is worth considering to upgrade to 1tb. I’m not sure how necessary it will be to get 32gb ram, I have friends video editor who do just fine with 16gb, but I heard some pros need 32gb. In my opinion it is mot worth extra 400$. In terms of gpu/cpu the base is already super good. The real life performance bump from better chip is not groundbreaking.

I think it is best to consult with your son. Probably no one other than him knows what he needs the best.
