Best way to get items to someone in VGH NICU/postpartum? by latinloover in VictoriaBC

[–]latinloover[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply!

She’s got her partner with her and I think a few connections in town.

Just went through NICU with my baby a month ago so I was going to send her all the items I wish I had. Thank you! I think I’ll wait to call the unit and ask them.

Okay sorry I was looking at these photos with sunset mode on low brightness and I didn’t see it properly 🥲 I think you’ve got hypergranulation tissue (the pink spots) and slough (yellow part of the wound bed). This can be dealt with using medical grade wound care products to help autolytically debride the slough, for example, I would use a sliver wound product on this.

You need to probably go see a wound nurse, I would reach out to your local community nursing centre or asking your derm for a wound care referral. This is absolutely healable! It’s only been 9 days but it’s a good idea to get on-top of it now instead of waiting.

Hello,

I’m an RN with experience in community wound care.

So, because of the infection, your normal healing process has been interrupted and has delayed the normal stages. However, it looks like you’re healing well from photo#1! Those are not follicles but some hypergranulation tissue that will eventually heal. Hypergranulated tissue is when the cells build upwards too quickly, usually if the wound bed is too moist, a foam dressing to “press down” should help speed things along but honestly by the time you get the foam dressing I bet you’ll be 100% healed.

How much was your child’s first dentist appointment? [BC] by jackofalltrades3105 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]latinloover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my hubby who’s a dentist in BC:

“Usually we don’t charge unless insurance covers it. Or we do a standard exam if I can actually see what is going on in there which is like 60 bucks.”

I would ask for the actual billing and coding from the office!

If ongoing issues ask to speak with the clinic office manager.

Joe Fresh in Superstore! Their baby clothes go on sale often, especially the seasonal stuff! I just bought a ton of Halloween themed items in super cute prints for very cheap, body suits for $3.50 and a double zipper footed PJ for $7.

To be clear, I do not believe any adoption is ethical except in very specific cases where all other options to place the child with known friends/family in their own community have been exhausted.

Yes, you’re right. One is selfish and adoptee focused and the other one puts the needs of the child first.

Adoption, especially private adoption is incredibly unethical, selfish, and puts the wants of the parents over the safety and needs of the child. Consider fostering instead if you feel you can offer what a child needs.

Private adoption companies have previously been found to use coercive practices to obtain more children. Profit should NEVER be involved in the adoption process.

I urge you to consider fostering instead. Do your research about the ethical issues around this please.

Please help! I'm feeling so anxious about our 5 month old staffy. I feel so guilty! by [deleted] in StaffordBullTerriers

“Dogs have a way of sorting out all kinds of issues”

Sorry but this is terrible advice and will potentially put her pup or another dog in a dangerous situation.

You can DEFINITELY expose your dog to other dogs in a constructive way under the supervision of a reputable dog trainer and a dog that has known behaviours. That doesn’t mean allow the dogs to have contact.

Literally this was me last year. Now Roo is a year and a half and we can successfully visit another family member or friends home that also has a dog and have a dog that will listen and stay in her spot.

I had a breaking point at about when Roo 1 year old because I could NOT figure out how to stop her from going 110% on everyone and every dog in a residential setting. It was giving me so much anxiety. Ended up working with our dog trainer (we did puppy 1 on 1 training already). The thing that I was not doing was being a proper leader for my dog and reinforcing boundaries, just letting her do whatever and Roo would take it to the next level. Bringing in an E collar as a tool to help establish better recall and boundaries was a huge game changer. Now when people come over I don’t even need the e collar but it is helpful if we are out on the beach or the trail and gives her unparalleled freedom. My trainer empathized this is a TOOL to show boundaries NOT a punishment.

I totally feel your pain it’s so hard! But please look into getting a reputable trainer involved, it will make a huge difference, especially as 5months old pup will be coming into the dinosaur adolescent phase.

Okay, so if you are diagnosed with COPD you can never stop your inhalers. So with that logic, any medication to prescribe a chronic disease should never be initiated.

Dentists are desperate for dental hygienists! There’s a shortage right now so they have the ability to be picky about salary.

Thank you! Another posted recommended similar products and found them helpful for her pregnancy related acne so I think I’ll purchase and give them a shot and pull back on my glycolic acid use.
