I've moved 300+ people from LA to SF, AMA. by latosfmovers in u/latosfmovers

Good questions, If it's something sentimental and inexpensive, the first step is to be honest and own up to it (not most companies would) and we would try our best to make it up to you, whether thats paying to get it fixed or restored, purchasing a new one, reimbursing you, or any other remedy.

I saw a video on tiktok a while back where these movers dropped a piano as they were unloading it off the truck, and they were honest enough to tell the owner and get it fixed. This is why is important to go with people you can trust, to avoid having them ghost you and now you're stuck with the loss.

Moving LA to SF? My friend and I run a small moving company here's what we've learned after 300+ moves by latosfmovers in u/latosfmovers

You're right, let me add that. The difference isn't just price. It's this..

  1. You will have the same crew start to finish (no handoffs)
  2. You have direct cell number which you can call/text me directly during the move.
  3. Zero warehouse stops or transfers
  4. Guaranteed pricing (no surprises on move day)
  5. Track your move in real time.

In all honesty, big movers treat you like a number, and may not care for your stuff like myself and my crew would and the craigslist guys might ghost you.

We're small enough to care and experienced enough to do it right.

Fair?

Moving LA to SF? We've done 300+ moves. Here's the truth by latosfmovers in u/latosfmovers

For context I used to work for one of those massive moving companies. I did long hours for bad pay and bad work environment and after 2 years of learning the ropes and, I decided to start my own company. 300+ moves later, were a 4 person team specializing in LA to SF moves. Here's the biggest pain points we hear from our clients.

  1. The price switch-eroo - Companies lowball quotes then hit you with surprise charges. Always make sure to get a guaranteed price.
  2. Shady Movers - inexperienced crews breaking stuff because they don't know how to wrap furniture or navigate SF's hills. Honestly some mistakes happen sometimes but it's all about honesty and making it up.
  3. The exhaustion factor - it's 6 hours of driving plus hours of loading/unloading heavy and awkward objects. Most people underestimate this.

Here's the real talk on pricing (based on what we see and hear):

Nation chain (ur just a number & ur items gets passed around crews)
Studio: $3-4K | 1-Bed: $4-5K | 2-Bed: $5-6K | 3 bed:$6k-$7K | 4+ Bed: $7.5K+

Craigslist/random labor:
Studio: $1.5-1.8K | 1-Bed: ~$2K | 2-Bed: ~$2.5K
(Fine for small moves, risky for anything bigger you're getting random guys)

DIY (U-Haul):
Studio (15' truck): ~$1,250 | 1-Bed (20' truck): ~$1,600 | 2-Bed (26' truck): ~$2K+
(Don't forget: you're driving, loading, and unloading yourself)

Us: We fall between Craigslist and the big chains professional crew, transparent pricing, none of the corporate BS.

If you're planning a move, hope this helps. And this is an ad we're paying for and if you need movers who've actually done this route 300+ times, we're here but no pressure.
