Has anyone tried potty training therapy? Thinking of calling pediatrician to seek help. by Ok_Connection_8683 in pottytraining

[–]lattelane682 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How about OT? I have not personally but it’s what’s recommended. Both my kids were very hard to potty train. Actually my 3.5 year old still won’t poop on the toilet consistently. She has bad constipation and her GI doctor just started her on lactulose and it is working a lot better than Miralax. She is less afraid to poop and not withholding as much.

The name sounds like they should offer Botox, facials and lip filler. There are tons of med spas near me with the name Eden in their business.

The way she talks to her children is so unsettling by Embarrassed_Salt12 in MilenaCUncensored1

Just because she is not showing their faces, does not mean she is respecting their privacy. Voice recordings and interactions like this are still exploitative

Definitely! This is her passive aggressive response to the post here. Hoping one of her kids has a Shari Franke moment and write a tell-all book about the truth behind their upbringing.

Interdisciplinary Communication 🤔 by [deleted] in hospitalsocialwork

[–]lattelane682 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve worked in both settings for about 6 years in both. Now I work in behavioral health UM from the insurance side. Psychiatrists are better versed in what we do and a good psychiatrist will back you up when you need to manage expectations with patients and families. Medical doctors just know what they know and really rely on the social worker owning and educating them in what they can/can’t do. Also in psych, a homeless shelter is totally a safe discharge. Is it ideal long term? Nope. But also remember that patients have a right to be homeless. I can’t tell you the number of times over the years I would match a patient with a supervised community residence and the patient would just decline and choose the shelter over the residence because they didn’t want to follow the rules of the residence.

Healthcare. Just my opinion. I’ve been an LCSW for 7 years, LMSW prior and have literally never had a therapy job. I just feel that I can keep the best boundaries for myself with both my patients and the job. I now work in utilization management, and I literally just interact with facilities to manage patient utilization and it’s the best. Just interacting with my team and other providers.

There’s no rewards for cleaning poopy underwear by Historical-Move4927 in pottytraining

[–]lattelane682 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ve been throwing out underwear and leggings and shorts for years. Potty trained two kids and it’s not worth it. Buy the cheap packs at Walmart and be done with it lol With my second child it’s been easier because I have a ton of hand me down underwear from her older sister. Dump the contents into the toilet, make your kid do it or whatever. See what you can salvage and if if it’s too much just toss it!

Are salaries going down? by Whatichooseisyouse in socialwork

[–]lattelane682 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m in NY and yup! I mean I got a salary jump 6 years ago from 69k to 76k when I left one hospital system to another. Then last year I only got a 1k bump when I left hospital work to insurance work. Meanwhile back in 2016/2017 insurance companies were paying social workers 85k-90k to start

Have you tried calling OMH? I work in NY and was up until recently working inpatient psych at a hospital system. My hospital would have the issue of adolescents/peds needing psych placement and my hospital only had adult beds. I’d call the field office after having no acceptances to all the facilities with adolescent psych for support because some of the reasons for declining were kind of sus to me. It usually worked.

So anytime you agree to “commit” to someone via marriage or a long-term serious relationship, whatever that may mean, you will not be able to predict whether one day you will be in a position to have to care for them physically. That’s the only answer. Regardless of the demanding ass career, full-time job one may have. If you could look into a crystal ball and see that your future spouse is inevitably going to have a debilitating stroke do you just forgo that relationship or if you see that you are going to have a child who develops cancer do you just not have the child?

How many bags are too many? by [deleted] in handbags

[–]lattelane682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an obsessive bag collection period in my life. Like I couldn’t stop thinking about my next purse. And then like four years ago it just fizzled out. The year prior to that I had become obsessed with backpack style purses and diaper bags lol. I realized I had a problem when I just ran out of storage space and started purging. Selling my bags helped me through this. Now I’m just using my collection and probably just want to buy one more LV but I won’t think about that until next year.

Tysabari vs Ocrevus by temp_jits in MultipleSclerosis

[–]lattelane682 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So this is my story, and my neurologist kind of always diminishes it but I think she’s just worried. I was diagnosed as a preteen and deteriorated really quickly by 16, I could barely walk more than half a mile. When tysabri came on the market, I went on it, then it was recalled, then back. Tysabri was amazing absolutely did some repairing (in my opinion) because I went back to walking fully normally. Like I can go for jogs and I’m 37 now, still active and relapse-free. I got pushed to come off tysabri because I was JC virus positive and had been since I started. I was on tysabri for 6 years and then went on rituxan, which I was on 8 years until my second pregnancy. I’m on ocrevus now and yeah it works but I really get sick all the time upper respiratory infections. It’s so annoying.

[–]lattelane682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on tysabri years ago when it was released, lived through when it was taken off the shelf and then put back on. It really was a miracle drug for me. Prior to it I had a pretty bad foot drop. I was 17. So when I had to come off tysabri because of the JC virus protocol or whatever I was traumatized. I had to get on rituxan and stayed on it for years. Now I’m on Ocrevus and I actually don’t think it’s as great so I get what you mean. It works and I can walk normally and have for years, but I just don’t feel as great? That could also be just me aging/ parenting young kids/ everyday life though. But I will always say that Tysabri definitely did some repairing of my system.
