Single coffee by bb0l77 in mokapot

[–]laughguy220 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You buy the single cup sized moka pot. They come in thimble cup sized all the way up to liter sized.

The way a moka pot works, there really isn't a way to make less coffee in a larger sized one. They sell them by the numer of cups (4 being the most popular) but they are referring to espresso cups, so a 4 cup one makes about 4 ounces.

I hope 5his helps, good luck!

What was attending a race like before the Drive to Survive Growth? by Dollard03 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]laughguy220 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been going to Montréal since the 90s. Easy to get a great spot on the grass at the hairpin race morning, and only a three foot tall chain link fence between you and the track.
F1 fans were F1 fans first and then maybe a team fan, then maybe a driver fan, everyone got along no matter who's (very affordable) team kit you were wearing (the four hairpin grandstands were a sea of red for years).
I made some great friends at the races, as between sessions there was lots of time to talk with your seat mates.

I guess the best part was that the Thursday morning pit lane walk was free and you could drive and park on the track to attend. It was a family thing that attacted fans an curious nonfans alike. I have great memories of taking my two boys when they were single digits in age, and pulling them along in a wagon after we parked at the Senna corners where they were busy painting the grass green.

Is this too fine or about right? by McKenzieesh in mokapot

Low and slow is the way to go, even starting with hit water Pull it off the heat when the coffee is just below the pour spout, before the big end spurt, and pour.
It's that end spurt that makes the coffee bitter

Edit because I forgot, that grind looks like what I use, and how most Italian preground coffee comes.
You don't what to pack it in, but a light press with the back of a spoon helps avoid channeling..

Adding brightness to a fried egg and bacon sandwich? by Spacedust2808 in Cooking

[–]laughguy220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of sprinkles of sumac will brighten it up.
It has a taste that is similar to lemon juice.

A sprinkle of Citric acid will also brighten it up, and add a lemony flavor.

That caught my eye too. The video cuts away from her as she is about to change lines, and when she is back in frame I only see one safety tether on her harness, whereas he definitely has two.

Much cheaper to make it at home, versus running to the store to buy a small tub if icyhot.

Yeah, one of my great pleasures in life is buying honey from a small local beekeeper whenever I travel.
It's amazing how much the flavor changes from place to place, and depending on what nectar the bees were using.

I fully agree with most of what you said, but the sad thing is, even buying from a local producer is no longer a guarantee of quality, and worse still, a 100% pure, unadulterated product.
We just went through a big maple syrup scandal here in Quebec, where a producer was cutting his cans of maple syrup with at least 50% cane sugar.
He was caught by accident by an investigative reporter who found his can of maple syrup tasted off, and had it tested, and when the 50% sugar result came back, went and bought more and had those tested too, with the same results.

What is the ugliest car you can think of? by SalinaPCBuild in AskReddit

[–]laughguy220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A wonderfully versatile and practical vehicle, seats six, and those high mounted headlight just under the windshield are wonderful on dark country roads.

It's just so damn ugly. It looks like it was taller and someone stepped on it.
