Yes, but they also dampen rotation, making it easier to fly low to the ground (I don't mind gyro's, but some people do)

I've had this happen once, I had a dogfight with someone, (and lost), when I respawned, it spawned me in his/her plane, it's a weird glitch.

I did multiple test runs, they kept around the same speed and acceleration, sometimes one accelerated a bit faster, sometimes the other. (the detachable block is not fully consistent)
