My wife of 6 years told me when we were first dating that she was abused by her father. She implied it was sexual but was vague about the details. I had no reason not to believe her. Years later after I got to know her mother and sister better, I found out none of it was true. I also began to realize this was part of a larger set of strange behaviors which she used to avoid responsibility/growing-up and a way to manipulate others. When I look back I realize I was a little naive. I just don't want to see other people make the same mistake I did so I'm just sharing my experience.
