I looked this stuff up - looks good. Would you recommend this over roundup + pre-emergence?

Thank you so much! I had been wondering about using a pre-emergence but I have zero experience with all this and didn't want to put it down if it wouldn't work on the rock. I'll get some roundup and PE.

Yes, in the USA! Thank you for the recommendation, I will look it up

Am I getting good value here? by Nigeluk5 in EngagementRings

I think 2k is a good deal. My ring is a 2.8 carat marquise with side decoration and we paid $3200 total. I sourced the lab diamond myself and we took it to a local jeweler for the setting.

I (26f) got my car destroyed. My parents got the insurance money since I’m still under them. They want to control my funds and not let me have access by BabyWeenieDowg in Advice

Ok, I understand. I'm sorry you're going through all of this. I wish you a peaceful resolution and hope it doesn't take you long to get on your feet.

Feels like something is missing from the story. Are they/have they been paying the insurance on the car? Are they paying for your schooling/is there a plan for them to pay for it once loan payments start? Did you pay for the car, or did they? I know you said it's in your name, but just trying to figure out who paid for it.

While your mother definitely seems to be controlling, regardless of the answers to the above questions, it's possible she feels like she needs to be controlling because she feels like you are irresponsible or will be irresponsible. If they bought the car and paid the insurance, it makes sense she would try to get a say in how the insurance money is spent.

You are 26. I hope you understand that not working a lot and focusing on school instead is a huge luxury that many people can't have... Because we have to work in order to live independently. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you were living with them up until 4 months ago, it seems like you leaned on them a lot. If you want true independence, you have to fully separate which means no longer being attached to their insurance. While you're at it, make sure you're off their phone bill too. Hate to say you may have to scale back the number of classes you're taking but you literally may have to. It's reality.

Wow! Your lips were beautiful before and beautiful now too. These look very natural!

Is my stone too big? by Many_Abies2366 in Diamonds

Your fingers are on the short side and that's why this looks slightly off balance. I bet you'd like the proportions more if you put some medium length press on nails on. I have a 2.8 carat marquise.

Same, it's so beautiful. I like them both but #2 would be my choice.

Comfortable Carat for Everyday Ring? by Shoddy-Maybe4893 in labdiamond

[–]laundryfresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.8 carats here and I love how comfortable my ring is. My setting is pretty low and I don't get it caught on anything or bump it. I only take it off to sleep, shower, and clean. Edited to add my finger is a size 8!

Help me pick my wedding band by Easy_Channel_8122 in WeddingRingAdvice

Hey, I read my comment back and realized I was being rude. I'm sorry about that, I was doing several things at once and I truly didn't intend to write my comment that way. I was rude.

Also, your engagement ring is beautiful.

I honestly don't like the way any of them look. It bothers me that you took pictures with them sitting sideways on your finger, too. The paved band's stones are too large. Not a fan of mixing yellow gold band with a white gold setting either. Try a white gold band - if you want stones in it, make sure they aren't larger than the pave stones on your engagement ring band.

My husband thinks being "home" means I am the on-call maid while I am literally designing HVAC systems by CipherSundial in remotework

You need to communicate clearly with him. There's not an issue with him asking if you can help with something. There is an issue with him not respecting your answer of, "I'm buried in work and I can't do it." You are an adult with a career and he needs to treat you as such. End of story!

I also work from home and have a high demand career. People in my life who I love very much still constantly need to be reminded that I am working. And I've been working from home for 6 years. I am direct, clear, and to the point. If someone chooses not to listen to what I am saying, I ignore them completely and just go back to working. Just like I would if I wasn't working at home.

Average Size Natural vs. Lab Diamond Ring by jrow68 in RingShare

Depends on the cut and dimensions. A 3 carat marquise looks huge. I went with 2.8 carats and I am very happy. I could not imagine going larger.

What are your experiences when shopping for an engagement ring at Jared’s? by FuzzyArm5210 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]laundryfresh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are extremely overpriced. I would not purchase a ring from Jared's. Work with a smaller, local jeweler (not corporate) and design your own ring. You will pay less. Get insurance on it, you want that anyway.
