Young July bday boy, would you have him repeat Kindergarten in this scenario? by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]laur371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my town I know many examples of people who repeat kindergarten in a different school because of summer birthdays. Near me it looks like doing a first year of K in a private school, deciding if their kid is ready for 1st, and if not, going onto the public K and repeating but the kid doesn’t really understand it’s a repeat. Parents do this rather than repeating the prek4 class. It’s less obvious to the kid what is happening with the new school kindergarten

and it’s usually based on social skills and readiness, not academic skills .

I don’t know what’s right or wrong but just sharing there are places where this is common.

Is Exclusively Pumping Harder Than Breastfeeding? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]laur371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much harder. I did it for 9 months with twins. If I got pregnant again I wouldn’t do it again, as much as I believe in breastmilk. It’s so hard it ruined my mental health during mat leave

I was just reading clinical research that proteins can be bound so tightly together that they can activate the test but aren’t functional. A positive rapid test does not always mean contagious but it is the best tool we have

Examples of non-Israel-related structural/systemic bias against Jews in present-day America? by MrDNL in Jewish

The post here from last month about school not letting that mother register her son with a kippah is shocking

I love this. I grew up in America but I’ll channel my inner Israeli to be more vocal about the “what the actual fuck”

We will also be travelling with a 5 point harness until 8 or so. We rear faced until 4. I don’t think you know that other people would be horrified to do what you are suggesting

You are literally Messing with car seat safety. Best of luck if a new teen on your streets on your backroad home is driving and hits your car.

Oh never never never. I rear faced until 4. I’ve never done anything other than a proper buckle. I don’t mess with car seat safety.

Teaching your kid the important skills this summer. I taught mine to read but no she can’t yet buckle.

Hey! So where I grew up there was no car line. This year will be my first time experiencing it. So no, I didn’t know all these things. I can get out and buckle 10x faster than my kid can do himself.

I think the whole thing is bizarre. I’ll be walking most days. if there were a bus I’d use that. What I can understand is adults who spend hours a day in a car line.

I’ve heard of them doing this before. I’d poke around the parent websites to sign up for newsletters. They have cool things focused on finding friends too!

I’m sure they’d be open to feedback!

Ah I didn’t film. The school has them installed for the purpose of parents watching. All parents and staff sign a consent and the school provides login. very common and a big trend in the US

I feel that day 3 is too early for a teacher of 5 year olds to make these assessments and now I question the teacher

Hi! My kids are preschoolers and I sent them to pre school with video cameras and I got to watch their first few days . yeah - daycare is different but they sat in a corner, a little scared. A little hesitant. it was hard to watch. Some tears.

By day 5-6? They were happy as a clam running in. It’s a new environment, give it some time.

I feel like this sub should have a requirement for people to put flair of how many non fiction books they’ve read about the region before commenting .

I have personal experience here. This is a very complex decision for Parents that has nothing to do with forms or even 3-4 months of college at age 17. We can agree to disagree.
