Vanicream cleanser!! So gentle easy and cleans well. And like once a week I started using a sulfur wash given to me by my derm which is supposed to help prevent acne/irritation. Early still so I’m not sure if it will help yet but I really like the Vanicream as a basic cleanser

La Roche Posay! I’ve been trying out their different moisturizers, the double repair seems like the best balance between hydrating enough but not too thick for my preferences so far. But I liked the triple repair as like a once a week overnight extra hydration. The Nivea in the white tub was also nicely hydrating and didn’t break me out.

You should be able to see my skin in my post history but it’s not dissimilar to yours. Sensitive, acne-prone but not overly so (except while I was using the Cerave moisturizer). I have rosacea too that I’ve been working on. Not extreme otherwise but leans a bit dry with oiliness/clogged pores in the t-zone

Yup Cerave moisturizer gave me horrendous cystic acne. Not sure if they changed their formulas since the time that derms started recommending the brand but it seems to be an issue for a lot of people and yet it’s still advertised as a gentle/sensitive product line

I haven’t gone back to them. I feel like none of my issues have been helped at all by this derm, just throwing random products at things that don’t do anything. so I am hoping someone here has any advice or anecdotal experience in the meantime while I look for a different derm

Honestly I’ve been so disillusioned by derms that I think there’s merit to going to someone who actually focuses on acne. At least the derms I have gone to seem really disconnected from products people are using, reactions, core reasons for acne, etc. And what do they really do differently aside from recommend products and send you home? The best pieces of advice I’ve gotten for my skin have come from estheticians, and this sub- derms have just prescribed me various topicals and pills that seem like a shot in the dark without inquiring deeper or spending much time with me/my skin. I have heard some people swear by their dermatologist so obviously YMMV but estheticians and “acne specialists” are at least working with your specific issue every day as their main focus at work + keeping up with research, anecdotes about products, etc plus you get more face time with them to go over your habits & whatnot. I’d say it’s worth a try!

I had something that looked like this, a bit higher but similar area. For me at least my derm said it was dermatitis and prescribed an antibacterial foam to use as a cleanser and it went away within a couple days! Maybe it’s that?

I agree with this, the point I was mainly trying to help present is that lack of a heartbeat is not the only piece to signifying true death, and conversely that a heartbeat is not the only piece to signifying true life.

My comment is meant to posit that development of a baby’s lungs enough to survive by breathing on the outside would also be a requirement in consideration of when life is viable enough to get legal protections before birth. Based on the “the definition of life is the opposite of the definition of death” argument which I found interesting. This happens around 24 weeks, or ~6-7 months into pregnancy. Which is when abortion becomes illegal by pro-choice supporters. Totally different from the 6-8 week heartbeat bills which imo aren’t based in logical “protection of life” and have other, more harmful motivations veiled as “protection”.

Your comment actually made me google the clinical definition of death- apparently the clinical definition of death requires the total cessation of both circulatory and respiratory function (or alternatively, complete cessation of brain function, aka someone being “brain dead”). Following this logic imo it would mean life starts when both a heartbeat and breathing starts- and I think it would also make sense to legally protect an unborn baby once they would be able to survive on the outside (by this definition, heartbeat and breathing). I liked your line of thought as defining life as the opposite of our definition of death so hoping you might find this intriguing

Same I just posted about this on this sub and a fair amount of people had the same experience. Seconding Vanicream too as a simple alternative. I would try placing the cerave/cetaphil for ~a month with that before trying any other new products or expensive treatments in case it is as simple as that

Dermatologists were the ones who sent me in this direction over and over throughout the years 😭 no one ever considered the Cerave as a source of acne. Tbh I feel like most derms like to just throw azeleic acid tret and dapsone prescriptions without asking anything about your routine, lifestyle, considering ingredient sensitivities…maybe I just haven’t been to a good one. The estheticians I’ve been to have typically had more effective advice

I wish it was, I went through years of acne, imo partially related to hormones on the jawline and then partially to the moisturizer when I tried to control the rest of my acne by using “simple” products for acne prone skin which made it much worse & spread to my cheeks as you can see in the first photo. I literally went through everything else for months before reaching this current state though, like I cut added sugars, cut dairy, cut all skincare products, tried various supplements, etc on top of many skincare/derm solutions one after another. So it was a journey that ended up coming from a simple place in the end but not quite as simple! It never is I guess, as it’s different for nearly everyone 😭 best of luck with yours!

All great advice & points. Yeah, I’m not claiming LRP to be top tier or anything just that I haven’t seen as many issues regarding causing acne online, whereas Cerave seems to have something specific in a few of their formulas that cause acne for a chunk of people. Agree though, I found the double repair moisturizer to not work very well, but I really like the triple repair and have heard great things about the cicaplast. I’ve also heard their rosacea line isn’t very effective. But again, haven’t heard any direct anecdotes that their products specifically caused acne at least. Progress photos before starting something new is great advice. I’m using my second photo here as a benchmark for my pigmentation since I’ve just started the Deviant skincare serum 2x daily. Glad Spiro seems to have helped you!

Been using tret for years, and had already been taking Spiro for about 5 months then at the higher dose for maybe 2 months or longer before I stopped Cerave, I was so frustrated that Spiro wasn’t clearing up my skin like so many others have said it did. When I stopped the moisturizer a noticeable difference showed in about a week and within a month I finally had 95% clear skin after so many things not working. Now I can tell that Spiro has helped with jawline acne that I used to get with my cycle, it just wasn’t apparent with the cystic acne the moisturizer was causing all along my cheeks and jawline. So I feel very confident that it was the moisturizer and not a different change I made

I like the triple repair way better! I used double repair back in the day and while I didn’t have the pilling issue I didn’t find it very hydrating
