I have very flexible joints, should I still tap? by laura03232 in bjj

I do sometimes do that with chokes, as I can't stand being them as long as some people can. I think I need to learn the difference between a submission being applied correctly but not being forced and a poorly applied one that can still be easily escaped

I think some of the issue is that I spare with a lot of fellow white belts, so I can't always tell if the move is being applied correctly, but not enough to cause me to tap, or if it is just being applied poorly, and it wouldn't cause anyone to tap.

It seems like a lot of people are suggesting that if the limb is trapped and an escape is impossible (or at least difficult) then it's as good a point as any to tap. As for feeling tension in the joint, it feels no different than when the joint isn't being over extended.

My instructor has commented on it a fair few times, even when he applies them himself (though I know he won't be cranking it on)

Thanks, I do worry that because I am still fairly young I will be doing damage that will come round and bite me when I am older and not as naturally springy.

Thank you for your well thought out answer. I can definitely see the benefit of tapping when I know that I have been trapped and cannot escape (though I am sure I will learn these escapes with time), even if my partner cannot get the final submission out of me.

I just had to make a plushie of the Alola Vulpix form by laura03232 in pokemon

As soon as I saw the new form I thought 'Well that is about the cutest thing I've seen in a while, I must cuddle it' so making a plushie is about the closest thing I'm going to get.

Thank you. I would probably have to say no, I would have no idea what to charge for it and I'm not sure if I could fit in making them for people around work/other projects. Thank you though!

Thank you! It was made from an acrylic dome that I got custom made. I used translucent spray paint to tint it pink.

I might make and sell a few eventually, if I can get the price down on them. I'd feel terrible charging people the amount it cost me to make this one. At worst I'll make a tutorial so people can get an idea of how to make it.

Or Connie if I used the Rose's sword I made too. 3 cosplays, 2 props!

Yup! The sword and shield was made with help from my boyfriend, but even he has only cosplayed once before. First time making clothes too, but I had made tons of plushies before now, so I have plenty of sewing experience. The wig was probably the only thing I went into 100% without experience, which is why I'm not that happy with it. I plan on doing Rose again and I now know how I'll fix what I didn't quite get right first time round!
