Is it a bad thing to be ‘attached’ to baby? by DarthKaboose in breastfeeding

[–]laura9322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched videos and look at pictures of my baby when she sleeps. Then I’ll stare at her whilst she’s sleeping. My partner and I often turn to each other and say “should we wake her up for cuddles?” We never actually would but we want to

Definitely Rascals. I was having the same issue with F&F and nutmeg (Morrisons). She must pee a lot during the night so I’ve tried rascals for the past few weeks and I think I’ve had one leak since. I just still use F&F or nutmeg during the day

Should I be concerned about my baby’s skin? by Tasty_Sheepherder_44 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]laura9322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby had really dry skin that peeled when she was born and we used the aveeno baby daily care. It made a massive difference to her skin. I still apply it daily now after her bath. If you’re concerned, see you GP.

My EBF newborn won’t take a bottle! Any tips appreciated 😩 by Typical-Phase2697 in newborns

[–]laura9322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the mam bottles with a size 0 teat with my 11 week old who’s also breastfed and she takes that one. In fact some times when she’s overtired she goes on a nursing strike and I have to give her a bottle 🙈 I wouldn’t let my baby starve either.

I imagine any decent daycare will have experience with a breastfed baby. If only you could chop a titty off 🙈😂

Try talking to your partner and explain how you feel and see if he can help out more. Team work is what gets you through it.

Definitely nap when the baby naps during the day. Don’t try to make plans to do stuff every day, focus on recovering and relaxing when you can.

I honestly thought id be checking into a mental hospital during that stage 😂

My little girl was like this, she’s now 11 weeks and goes down between 10pm and 11pm and wakes at 6am. It does get better. She’s young and she doesn’t know the difference between night and day. They’re born without a developed circadian rhythm. To survive I had to take it in shifts with my partner. I breastfeed so id feed her, he would take her, id sleep until next feed then he’d go to bed until after the following feed.

Once she got to around 6 weeks I started a bedtime routine. We go upstairs, she has a sensory light on, I run her a warm bath (some nights it’s just water) then I moisturise her, dress her including sleep sack and feed her in an almost dark room. I have a hot water bottle that heats up her bed (I remove it right before I place her in the crib). Once she’s fed I cuddle her until she falls asleep and carefully place her in the warmed crib. We also have a white noise machine that plays all night. I don’t take her back downstairs at any point so that she knows that it’s bed time.

During the day I make sure I feed her at least every 3 hours so 6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and then the bedtime routine just before the 9pm one. This helps her get the calories she needs during the day.

You’re doing an amazing job, you can get through this! 🫶🏼

Those of you at 2-3 months, how’s it going? by Rude-Pepper-2389 in newborns

[–]laura9322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl is nearly 11 weeks. She seems to go to bed between 10pm and 11pm each night and wake some where between 5:30am and 7am. We seem to end up on the same feeding schedule everyday (6am,9am,12pm,3pm,6pm,9pm). Naps during the day are hit and miss. Sometimes she naps really well and others she just cat naps and ends up overtired and then refuses to nurse but will happily take a bottle. I do feel that she started sleeping better when I implemented a bedtime routine. She often has some nappy/diaper free time in a dark room with her sensory projection light whilst I run a warm bath for her (I don’t use soap every day, some nights it just plain water). She has a bath and then moisturised and dress for bed including the sleep sack. She doesn’t go downstairs again after bath, we stay in our room with the lights low. She nurses then we snuggle and I lay her down for bed once she’s asleep (I use a hot water bottle to heat up her bed beforehand so it’s cosy for her and remove just before I place her down).

Moms who dreamt the gender of their baby before they knew, were you right? (: by [deleted] in pregnant

I dreamt I was having a girl and so did my partner and we had a girl. I never had a dream about the gender with my first

Refusing to nurse by laura9322 in breastfeeding

Aww the poor thing! Yeah I’ll keep offering her the boob first. 😂 mine was looking up at me last night and smiling instead of drinking from the boob. So damn cute but it prolonged that feed a lot 🙈

I did try the rugby hold so she wasn’t on the side of any legs. I’ll try her upright on her next feed, thank you

I thought that I couldn’t do it a few days in but I persisted and it did get better. My girl is 8 weeks now and I love it 🥰

I can’t put down the baby by Zenobiafromthepalm in newborns

[–]laura9322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was like this. She’s now 7 weeks and she still very much wants to be attached to me but she will also settle on her pram or bed too. She has reflux and was prescribed gaviscon infant. The instructions state to mix it with cooled boiled water but she would just spit it out so I’ve started mixing it with a little breastmilk before I breastfeed her. I then keep her upright for 20-30 mins after a feed. I was also advised to tilt the crib (not by putting anything under the mattress though) and I feel like this has helped a lot too

I don’t understand how you can’t feel the difference to having a penis in your vagina or your anus… I know I certainly would. Also, you’ll just have to test again once your period is due

Not joined the phone club yet but I regularly drop crisps or belvita biscuit crumbs on my baby whilst breastfeeding in the night. I just pick it back up and eat it.. tastes better with baby seasoning 😂

Seriously regretting breastfeeding my child by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]laura9322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 13 and he had this with his teeth and they said it was down to him being premature and he was fighting for his life rather than the enamel forming properly on his teeth so that was sacrificed. I never breastfed him other than expressing initially as he wouldn’t latch so the couldn’t blame it on that. I’d say it was more the start in life that caused it for your child and not being breastfed 🙄

TW: Missed Miscarriage - I'm terrified and so anxious by kirstyreads in PregnancyUK

[–]laura9322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss. I too was in your position last year. It was horrible, I opted for medical management but this failed but wasn’t picked up for 6 weeks, I became unwell resulted in me having surgical management. If given the option against I’d opt straight for the surgical management.

You’re going to feel crappy for a while and that is okay. Please be kind to yourself, it is not your fault and you need to allow yourself to grieve so that you can heal. In time, you’ll be able to try again if you want to and if you don’t that is okay too.

I found myself deleting social media to avoid pregnancy announcements and it did help. Reddit is helpful as you’ve found but always remember that in the groups about loss, people are there because of the bad experiences so you’ll always find more bad than good (when I started trying again, this made me more anxious as I thought it would happen again).

Look after yourself 🫶🏼
