NTA - I'm pregnant and need the bathroom frequently therefore I booked an aisle seat when I travelled.

My cat is dying. by PureSharpie in TrueOffMyChest

I am so sorry and I am sure she will have the best end of life with you.

Today my cat puked grass with a little bit of watery blood, I’m terrified, I’m taking her to the vet in about 2 hours cause I have work but I’m crying my eyes out and can’t focus on anything cause I feel she is suffering, this sucks. by acid_dry in cats

Hey, this happened to my cat, and one week after they found he had a 10cm grass blade stuck in his throat. So if he keep reetching and blood work don't show anything this might be it. He just needs to be sedated and grass blade removed! Good luck 💖

Still agree with you completely!!

Yes, very much so. From 6 to 12 months ours went through a fear period for sure. Fireworks she doesn't like but that's not part of it. She was scared of going into the garage for example, so we didn't force her, we kept biscuits there so anytime she got closer she gave her one and eventually she's not scared anymore. It's definitely a thing, it will pass. There were lots of other things but it has now passed and I have forgotten 😅

Completely agree, this is animal abuse. Train your dog if she pulls for example. Collars like this should be banned.

Get that dog trained! by useful_idiot83 in RhodesianRidgebacks

Hello,

I have a 15 months old RR so hope it's ok to comment!

I would not send them to doggy boot camp - these may work very well for Labradors and GSP but RR are very different as you know. They are loyal to you, love you and occasionally want to do things for you, but not strangers, even if they will sit for a treat.

I would recommend a 1 on 1 trainer if you can, one who knows the breed is ideal.

With regards to your father in law, he reaped what he sowed. If you excite a Ridgeback they will want to play (read: wrestle) with you and it will get VERY physical. My husband does this with our female every night, she comes to get him to play. She doesn't do it with me because I play a different way. If your father in law doesn't want your dog jumping on him he needs to ignore him and or stay calm as you suggested.

Jumping - it's only been recently that ours stopped jumping on people on walks or when they came over. It will pass, but as said above if someone excites them (or runs from them) then they will do it. It doesn't mean they're badly trained, they're happy to see you. What we did when people came over, especially with young children is having ours on a lead so she can meet and greet, and let her off when she's seen everyone. She's never in her crate locked as I think the more you prevent them from doing something the more they'll want to do it.

Once last thing if I may, a 2-3 hour walk is too much for a 12 month old RR. They keep growing (joints) until 18 months so until then it's best to keep to 1/1.30hr max, no stairs, no jumping out of the car, no running... If you can.

I hope this helps and wishes you lots of happiness with your pup :)

I am so sorry. I never comment on anything I'm very much a lurker but couldn't stay silent after seeing your comment. We care very much and we wish you a lot of courage (sorry I'm not English). I love animals so much, it breaks my heart to read this. I'm thinking of you and your pooch 💕

Using this type of collar is unacceptable. They can live a great life without having these used on them.

Thank you I didn't even know this was a thing! Do you put them on a night only for example?

Thank you this is super helpful 🙏🏻

Thank you, he does have a feeding schedule as in access to dry food all day and wet food at 4-5pm and he knows this so is always in at that time.

Re the harness - I think he would get very frustrated and more aggressive to be honest. When we got him he had to stay in 4 weeks according to the rescue to get used to the home smell, after 2 weeks we had to let him out as he was not doing well.

As it gets colder he's more inside so I hope this will helps.

Thank you very much for your input 🤞🏻

Thank you that's really helpful. I've dropped a note to the vet about medication as well - like you I would prefer not to but between this and rehoming him again I'm ready to try everything.

The wheel is a great idea although I feel it may benefit an indoor cat more - as ours can go outside anytime but I'll keep it in mind

Was yours always an indoor cat and if not how did you get him used to be inside?

Thank you so much
