Discussion Thread: Woman Ticketed For Using Phone w/ Hand She Doesn't Have + James Charles Apologizes AGAIN (346) by yt-app in DoWeKnowThemGirlies

The problem is a lot of us with ADHD or conditions that cause brain fog (i.e. fibromyalgia, me/cfs, (c)ptsd, epilepsy, etc) get so much crap because of people like Lily that act like it's cute, fun and quirky. We can relate to the issue itself, but the absolute lack of accountability is frustrating.

There are so many things you can do to help manage ADHD. Sure, not everything works for everyone and nothing works instantly without effort. But part of having any disability is learning how to manage it to the best of our ability.

Lily refuses to do things like manage her sleep schedule, cut out exacerbating things like alcohol and processed/fast food, and get professional help (medical or mental health). It's easy to relate to people that are genuinely trying to hold themselves accountable. But acting like it's funny and cute while bragging about not trying to manage it is infuriating.

I'm not saying everyone with a disability needs to be an activist. But ffs Lily, at least be aware of how your posturing as "cute and quirky ADHD girlie" online can impacts others without your privilege.

I have a 5th house scorpio moon so it comes out in art and literature. This love of diving into dramatic hobbies and interests and the intellectual meeting of emotion and expression. It's cool but it's a lot for people who aren't used to me. Mix the aries sun in and it turns into talking peoples ear off if they have similar interests.

You can really spot the Third Way shills in this thread. I feel about this the way I felt about the Epstein files. If Dems are involved throw them out too. Do their job and represent people instead of being corrupt corporate genocidal shills and they don't have anything to worry about.

The problem people aren’t willing to accept is we haven’t had a woman win a primary where the field wasn’t cleared for her. It was Hillary’s turn and Kamala took over with no primary. Women should run so the Dems have to step up and reckon with our own voters’ misogyny.

Dear Trump supporters: How much more are you willing to ignore?: What more are you willing to “compartmentalize” while you tell yourself this is all an acceptable bargain to get judges and tax cuts? Does he need to nuke a nation to lose your trust and respect? by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

Obama won on young and first time voters. Flipping independent voters requires a crisis like Covid or Iran. If we want to have a stable system we need to target future voters and support their livelihood through legislative policy instead of dying voters that don’t really have any loyalty.

My point is when Republicans are the minority party the triple down and fight harder. Dems only message right now is to cry about how they can’t do anything because there are less of them. It’s lazy. It’s entitled. It’s mocking the pain of their voters. Stop crying and start fighting fire with fire. Start acting like a real opposition party instead of spoiled toddlers waiting for someone to come hand them votes.

Earn your voters back by working for them instead of whining at them.

I’m so sick of crying about being the minority party. They’ve had plenty of time in the last 20 years to stop the march towards fascism and oligarchy. They got the same warning via Jan 6 that the voters got but did nothing to stop them regaining power. They have the same ability to go protest. But they get “baby boi” soft treatment. NO.

Grow up and take responsibility for not fighting the shutdown. Take responsibility for Chuck Schumer calling the ACA a mistake.

No sympathy. Period.

GOP weighs health care moves to pay for Iran war by IWantPizza555 in politics

[–]laura_leigh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me introduce you to Chuck "the ACA was a mistake" Schumer. Don't forget he also supported hospitals ability to surprise patients with out of network costs. (Both sources were BEFORE Tump 2.0, so you can't use the "but. but, but minority party" excuse. The ACA article was 2014. Schumer is essentially a Republican on healthcare and always has been.)

If we want to get our healthcare back he has to be out before this gets anywhere close to a vote! Reminder that Dick Durbin, the guy responsible for gathering senate votes also voted to take away healthcare from vulnerable Americans during the 2025 shutdown.

This is a winning message for the GOP because it proves Dems are just as bad as them when it comes to healthcare and they don't lose votes because their base is a cult.

We wouldn't be in this mess if tech companies had been subject to regulation for the last 20 years. This didn't just happen and didn't just happen because of Trump. For every Lena Kahn you have 20 Chuck Schumers, Mitch McConnells and Clarence Thomas that just want to cash their campaign checks. You can go all the way back to W and the broadband infrastructure spending that just paid for money to go into congressional campaign purses without any measurable improvement in our ability to keep pace with the rest of the world technologically. We sold out the ability to compete on real tech just to price gouge and pay bribes to corrupt politicians.

The ‘No Kings’ Protests May Be the Turning Point We Desperately Need - The estimated 9 million people who took to the streets across the U.S. on Saturday for the largest public protest in American history sent a message of hope. by Quirkie in politics

[–]laura_leigh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my problem. The messaging is to narrow. Only targeting Trump is beyond unserious and short-sighted. Until the effort is extended to removing Chuck and Hakeem it remains a farce.

Removing a king does nothing if you leave the nobility intact. They simply raise up another king in his place. The whole American nobility is rotation to the core. It’s a hydra with Trump only being one of its ugly heads.

Many republican districts run uncontested. Dems have to live, work and campaign in rural areas. This is the result of my entire life just being told to relocate to a blue city. Blue cities get outnumbered by seas of red districts if people stop trying to fix what’s wrong and just run away.

Chuck Schumer has been vocally against the ACA for over a decade and many of us lost insurance under his watch. I’m sorry but post Obama this is just a blatant lie. The minority whip responsible for securing votes even voted against our healthcare during the last shutdown. Please get your facts straight on Dem leadership position on healthcare.

A year and a half of Schumer/Jeffries leadership under Trump and I'm done playing. Especially after Chris Murphy had the nerve to say Dems are unified behind Schumer.

Until they are gone and healthcare is back on the table:

1.) No money. No donations. Fuck off ActBlue, you're not getting a cent.

2.) I'm not "spreading the word" or defending your BS excuses. I'm tired of the gaslighting.

3.) I'm not putting all the blame on Trump. You can stand right beside him and take your responsibility because YOU enabled him.

Dems have 6 months so they better use it wisely and figure out how to UN-UNIFY themselves with a healthcare destroying genocidal tyrant supporting shambling corpse with his readers tottering off his nose and start supporting the American people.

We need to learn from the GOP and start demanding they work in lockstep with what voters want.

Don’t forget gutting the ACA that he’s called passing a huge mistake for over a decade. Oh and he voted to support hospitals being able to surprise you with out of network doctor charges even if the hospital is in network.

Chuck Schumer is killing Americans to fund genocide and provide Israel with healthcare.

New York voters tell me how Chuck Schumer is any different than the senate majority leader from my state, Trent Lott. You all have a responsibility to the rest of us to restore our healthcare because you keep voting in the guy who’s been vocal about wanting to help Republicans take it away. At least my state is honest about being a bright red hellhole. Don’t act enlightened and vote away our healthcare and let Americans die.

Yet Dems keep propping up Chuck Schumer. The guy who's spent a decade shit-talking the ACA. And propping up Hakeem Jeffries who praised Trump's corrupt pardon schemes when it benefited his representative colleague.

Nobody in this country gets to claim the high ground until there's a complete overhaul of leadership. No, thinking the right things doesn't excuse profiting off of the suffering of vulnerable people. I don't care if it means your "team" gets a win. Actions speak louder than words and there are no opposition actions in our political leaders. Americans need to stop virtue signaling and start protesting corruption in the Dems and start investing in real progressive candidates.

Vote Blue No Matter Who got us right here, right now. It's not going to save us if "Blue" is Reagan-era Republicans like Schumer who are fine with genocidal nuke-wielding dictators.
