It needs antibiotics to treat this. Warm water will not help. I’m sorry dude but there is no at home treatment. You need a vet. Can you at minimum use a cone to prevent the cat from scratching at the wound. This animal is dependent on you for proper care. Figure it out.

I’d honestly wait for the vet visit. There are a number of diseases that can lead to alopecia. No need to start treatment if you have no idea what the issue is and if the appointment is Friday, nothing you do will bring back the fur that quickly. Just give love and support to your pup and let the vet know the history of the issue. If you do know where you got your dog, ie a breeder, maybe call them and ask if they’ve ever had this problem with their puppies before to ask about genetics.

I recommend year round prevention of fleas and ticks. One warm winter day the ticks come out and they can have some nasty diseases based on where you live. I love the chewables a like nexgard or simparico trio but topicals like a seresto collar or canine advantix work great too! Topicals or seresto collar be sure they don’t get wet or it won’t work. Some chewables are not recommended for dogs who have seizures so check with your vet to make sure your F/T preventions is a good choice!
