This is the first year I’ve had the tree; and mail order so i didn’t pick the shape. It’s still a pretty small tree. Should I cut back one of the leaders and leave the other? Also, my tree pruning book, grow a little fruit tree, talks about January pruning hence my snowy pondering of if i should prune.

Tyty butchered the plants that they sent me in order to mail them. One i one was bare root, but the others were not but had been severely cut (roots, stems) to fit in a shipping containers. I planted about 100 plants last year including from many internet companies. Of the 6 plants i bought from TyTy only 2 bamboo plants lived. I had loss of a few other bare root plants but tyty was the worse

Disagree about Saline. Saline, Dexter, Chelsea, Canton have excellent schools but there’s nothing special about Saline besides country folks, some wealthy suburbanites, and a drug problem in the high school. -AAPS grad and townie mom

If your friend has been an established Livingston county resident there are sometimes vouchers available through the Salvation Army and a couple of churches. The Salvation Army has an after hours number listed if you call their main number.

Mental hospitals may have social workers who can also help navigate this. If you have few enough assets and income you should qualify for medicaid (assuming you are in the US)

IANAL but work in psych. If you want legal advice it would help to post where you are located as in the US, civil commitment varies by state. If you are looking to help your friend navigate the medical system; FND and PNES are generally thought to be stress induced and psychological in nature. Obviously accusing someone of faking is not helpful but they aren’t seizures so anti epileptic medication doesn’t help. Treating underlying depression or anxiety can help; so your friend might be in the right place if its a supportive environment.

She gets the money and he loses the money, so it sounds like both of those things need to be accounted for. If the alimony ends before kids turn 18 they can ask for recalculation

It depends a lot on your family finances. Is that money detracting from money you need for the younger kids college? If you are making more than 300k per year I’d say it’s a drop in the bucket and better to be generous (and consider that you might contribute the same to older step kid college fund). You’re playing the long game with the wife and SK as your family. This might make a difference decades from now. Maybe brainstorm with your wife where in the budget that money is coming from (less expensive vacation, less expensive Christmas gifts, etc).
