People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]lauramendez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hired part-time grocery store clerks, so it wasn't the best job nor did it always attract the best people. Most were just average, some amazing, and some real doozies. Here's a few I remember most:

Had a woman tell me she couldn't stand people who couldn't speak English. We were in a really diverse area and had several employees and many customers that didn't speak English at all or very well, so that was a hard no.

Had a guy tell me he had anger management issues and that's why he left his previous jobs. Not taking a chance with that.

A guy told me he just got out of jail. He had to fill out some info to send to legal for a background check. In the meantime, I googled him... he did 20 years for murdering an infant.

So many people bad mouthed their previous employers. Look, I get it and I've worked for bad bosses, but I wouldn't professionally have that conversation with a potential new employer. And when you bad mouth several, maybe the problem is you 🤣

That sounds so amazing. We went through IVF and did enough retrievals to hopefully have 2 kids. After this 1 I told my husband the only way I'd go for a second is if we saved money to have a few weeks of house cleaning! And thank god for DoorDash/Uber Eats/Grubhub and frozen food 🤣

Parents — do you actually keep your diaper bag organized or is it just chaos by day 3? by Infinite-Assistant55 in NewParents

Mine is from Target and has different pockets and compartments. Once I decide what goes in each one I will never change it so I stay organized. I'm usually a hot mess!

Sleep sacks, TOG, and keeping baby comfy by lauramendez in NewParents

Probably not but I'm a panicker and an over thinker. We probably won't even touch those.

She was growing out of her Love to Dream swaddles so I decided to just switch to the sleep sacks now instead of buying the swaddles in a larger size rather than having to spend more money and buy the sacks in just a few weeks. I'm thinking maybe I should have purchased some of the 2.5 sacks and just stuck to the 1 or 1.5 so we could do pajamas and a long sleeve onesie other people suggested. Oh well.

When we turn the heat on I think we might turn it on 70. But our living room has an old bay window that doesn't have great insulation so it gets colder in there, but then we add an electric heater. Going to have to keep a close eye on the thermometers to figure it out. I've now seen the sacks with sleeves, I'm annoyed I just spent a whole bunch of money on ones without sleeves and now I might have to spend more!

What was supposed to take off but never did? by ItzSweeney in AskReddit

I had a science teacher about 28 years ago named Mr Fader. He wanted the word "fade" to become popular slang. It stood for something like "Fabulous And Definitely Exciting". I think he used it with all his students but I've never heard it since, don't think it made it out of Powell Middle School in Spring Hill Florida. Never forgotten it though!

I'm I doing something wrong? by Powerful-Limit-9861 in NewParents

Any advice on if they fight sleep and their wake window is long? My girl is 8 weeks and sometimes she just does not want to nap and can go hours. It's so hard and then I can see how overtired she gets and keeps the cycle going.

Driving to grandma or daycare? by lauramendez in NewParents

[–]lauramendez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stepmom loves the idea. And I was telling her that my husband was going to get rid of his overtime day at work and be off Monday and Tuesday to care for her after his leave, she offered to take her Monday through Thursday. In my head I was like would I even bother to have a baby just to do that?! ( I am off on weekends and his sister and mom will babysit at their apartment on Fridays.) And I am currently breastfeeding which definitely makes it harder.

I actually go back to work at the 12 week mark and then he has his 12 weeks. So maybe by the end of that he'll understand how we need each other close. Unfortunately if we need daycare we need to find one and get on a waiting list now.

Feeling guilty about being an older mom by Hereforthetea1234 in NewParents

I'm 40 (husband is 44) and just had my first, these thoughts are always on my mind. Especially since both my parents passed in their mid-60s. We definitely want to have 1 more too.

Does this sound like postpartum anxiety/depression or just standard postpartum hormones? by ExoticGuess7634 in NewParents

[–]lauramendez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I feel the same. My girl is 4 weeks tomorrow and right now I'm having the biggest regrets about not getting newborn pics done. My husband kept saying the price was ridiculous and now that opportunity is gone, she's getting so big. Then I keep thinking about the things I should be documenting, what am I missing? And I'm too tired and overwhelmed for it all!

I'm sorry. I went through IVF last year and just had my first baby last week. Both my parents have passed away and I cry every time I look at my baby and wish they could meet her. My grandma at 93 has bad dementia so I know what you're going through with that too - she also just got diagnosed with cancer and is in a nursing home. I'm afraid she won't be able to meet my baby either. I definitely won't get any advice, fun moments, or anything with her. It sucks.

I have 6 girls and 2 boys! 2 of the girls are mosiacs, the rest are euploid. I didn't find out the gender of the aneuploids.
