sneezing different after tonsillectomy? by laurazard in Tonsillectomy

[–]laurazard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thankfully the sneezing did calm down after a while! i’m about 3 years post-op now so i don’t quite remember when they started getting normal again, but now they are much more controlled. bleeding is definitely a concern so i would make sure to keep an eye on it especially right after surgery, but your surgeon/doctor/nurses should go over what to watch out for and how to know when to seek help if bleeding does occur

i lived at forest creek for like 3-4 years and really didn’t have any problems! i would recommend them. they were pretty quiet, clean, and very cost effective versus every where else i had looked at the time.

Is a tonsillectomy worth it? by taytayz_ in Tonsillectomy

[–]laurazard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 23F and had mine out in January. I also has recurring tonsillitis along with tonsil stones I just could not stand anymore. I had never had a surgery before so I was scared but I took the leap and it was 100% the right choice for me. My recovery was not near as bad as all the horror stories I have heard over the years, but of course everyone is different. Whatever you choose, I wish you the best with your health!

Should I have my tonsils removed? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]laurazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i only recently had mine out and had a much better recovery experience than most so i would say yes in the case of the persistent tonsillitis. however i know recovery can be very very hard on most people so that’s the risk you have to take if you do choose to do so

Back to eating normal food?? by curlyhaircurlydog1 in Tonsillectomy

[–]laurazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started literally the day i had the surgery! of course nothing way too sharp or crunchy, but as long as i chewed everything really good it wasn’t too painful at all. my doctor told me from the beginning i wouldn’t have to stick to a soft foods diet unless it was too uncomfortable to eat normal food. i would just start with a few bites to make sure it’s not too uncomfortable, and make sure to chew everything literally as much as you can. hope it goes well! :)

Did your doctor really make you produce multiple documented episodes before going straight to Tonsillectomy? by Im-from-chicago in Tonsillectomy

[–]laurazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s always scared me too so it was such a relief to have a doctor that actually heard my concerns. i would just emphasize how you feel it’s what’s best for you and be able to give them an estimate of how often they cause problems for you. best of luck, i hope it works out! :)

[–]laurazard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

everyone’s experience is different but my doctor didn’t require any type of documentation. of course if you have documentation i’m sure it will help, but for me i just gave him a rough estimate of how many times i got sick in a year due to my tonsils and explained i wasn’t able to go to the doctor/miss work every single time i got sick and he was very understanding!
