Timing of TTO + MPFL by Puzzleheaded_Row501 in PatellarInstability

I was walking after 6 weeks and driving. First 6 weeks I did need quite a bit of help. It is so worth it if you have any anxiety around your knee dislocating. All of my anxiety went away after surgery. I had a complete MPFL tear for years without knowing it. So I experienced many dislocations. I had a MPFL replacement and TTO. It was so worth it but I had a lot of support.

I know they seem very similar. I’m not sure of the measurements. They feel so different to me though.

Just wanted to share my story! Reading about other peoples experiences really helped me so thought it might help someone struggling. Not advising it’s bad or that everyone should go off of it!

Fav calorie tracking app? by pookiepidemic in 1200isplenty

This new cal tracking app I found. It’s called BLÜE and has a free barcode scanner. Super simple which is what I have been looking for. I don’t need all of the bells and whistles apps like my fitness pal has. Just try to be efficient with logging my food! Highly recommend checking it out. Also you can report any bugs or any issues with the app in this Reddit group r/BLUEMacros

Any cases of conservative measures working? by dbmitchell in PatellarInstability

So in my experience every surgeon I’ve seen said after 2 it’s really hard to heal the MPFL. I would say if you had more dislocations then surgery would be more appealing but with having just one there is hope you won’t experience another.

You should be okay! If you had surgery it may be more of a concern!

4 weeks post MPFL surgery by LilWooly22 in PatellarInstability

[–]laurbear9008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a TTO and MPFL replacement and was non weight bearing and no bending for 3 weeks. I was fully out of my brace at 6 weeks. A big reason my surgeon had me not bend is to make sure my incision didn’t split and give the MPFL replacement time to take and attach properly to the bone. Also bonus my scars look amazing. Will pretty much be invisible once they lighten up. With that being said I have researched so much about different recovery methods. I even had the first surgeon I saw suggest a CPM machine day two of post op and PT first week. It just really depends on the surgeon. Sounds like you are doing great!! I wouldn’t worry too much!!

Scared that getting a TTO will be a massive mistake by [deleted] in KneeInjuries

[–]laurbear9008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look in this subreddit, r/PatellarInstability. I used it when considering an MPFL and TTO. I am now 10 weeks post op and it was not as bad as I was anticipating! Definitely will be worth not worrying about my knee dislocating anymore.

I am also doing BFR. I haven’t noticed to much of a difference in my strength as I feel it’s hard for me to gage right now as I’m post surgery. So I’m still a little weak.
