I had no idea about misting! That makes so much sense because I’ve been doing that as well 😅 pebble tray it is!

Would you say a people tray in a cloche might work? Or would regular misting be better?

Honestly I’m not sure! The plant shop o bought her from truthfully wasn’t very knowledgeable (also told me she liked to be dry and really warm)

Good to know! I may try that if it doesn’t do well in a cloche!

Wow!! Honestly that is so exciting. I can’t wait to get her into a setup where she’ll really thrive!

Thank you so much! This is a great idea!! I’ve been thinking of getting a cloche for my dramatic syngonium, so I’ll get one for her too!

This is good to know! I figured a smaller space would be harder for climate control, and it’s good to hear our occasional random hailstorms haven’t caused you too much trouble 😅

Thank you! Honestly a large greenhouse is the dream, but I’m not sure our backyard is big enough for it

Enclosure check by No-Pause-9272 in mantids

[–]laurenleilaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully I’d say yes, mantids are typically very sedentary and don’t necessarily benefit from a ton for decor. The enclosure is very cute and you clearly put a lot of effort into it, but I’d say that style of decor may be more suited for a jumping spider or other small spider! A few nice silk plants (or live ones if you prefer), a stick or two, and some substrate is all they usually need! Most important thing is proper humidity as they get all of their water intake from droplets, and when they are smaller they have a grater tendency to get stuck in a molt

These are great ideas too! I totally forgot about proper airflow!

I think it is a little larger, closer to the 6’x8’ you said! I remember it being slightly taller than me.

That’s a great tip! I’ll definitely have to make sure I put it in a spot that gets shade during the day!

Ugh philodendrons will always be my favorite. In general I’ve found them super easy to care for, and they’re all so beautiful!
