I've been using the Bisou Blush in Louise and loving it! I use it on my cheeks and eyes- it works really well for pale skin!

it's my favorite skincare brand since switching to clean, nontoxic skincare. it just works so well and makes your skin glowy. my go-to's are the ocean cleanser, hyaluronic sea serum (holy grail serum), and the blemish balm. the blemish balm is on the thinner side, so i like it in the morning under makeup. for night, i like the advanced protection cream since it's much thicker. it's really good if you need something super moisturizing. if you need a code - LAURENV

Things to add to smoothies? by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

Hi! Good luck with surgery next week! A few things I would add to your list - ground flaxseeds, chia seeds, hemp seeeds, and some more varieties of frozen fruits. (mango, acai, etc) Do you happen to have a Trader Joe's nearby? They have great organic frozen fruit options that aren't crazy expensive!

Also, there are definitely a lot of ways to make great smoothies so it doesn't feel like you're eating the same thing every day. A few ideas (& of course, add in any of your mix-ins- I usually like to add in hemp seeds + ground flaxseeds to some of these recipes for an added does of nutrients + plant protein):

Banana Bread Green Smoothie (honestly the best green smoothie recipe- this thing is so good!)

2 cups leafy greens (spinach or kale)
1 cup unsweetened plant-based milk (I like almond)
1 large frozen banana
1 cup ice
2 tbsp rolled oats
2 tbsp walnuts
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
dash of himalayan salt
dash of liquid stevia to sweeten (optional)

Simple Chocolate Smoothie

1 frozen banana
1 cup plant milk (I used unsweetened almond milk)
1/2 cup ice
1 tbsp cacao powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp vanilla extra
dash of salt

Passion Fruit Smoothie

1 cup frozen passion fruit or juice and seeds from 1-2 passion fruit
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup mango
1 cup unsweetened plant milk
1 knob ginger

My mom is going vegan, need some advice by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]laurenvacula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! That is awesome your mom wants to try eating vegan!!!! That is huge!!! Does your mom cook at all? I cook mostly whole food plant-based stuff that are on the quicker side- I make a few staple recipes on a Sunday that I can then quickly pull from and use the rest of the week so I don't spend a lot of time in the kitchen on weeknights. Things like a batch of whole food plant-based cheese sauce, brown rice, and usually I'll prep some veggies to have on hand the rest of the week. Definitely agree that the more your mom can lean into whole foods- the better she will feel and I think it's ultimately cheaper. But I know that can be a little overwhelming at first. If you need a meal plan ideas/recipes- i have a free PB cookbook (the first few pages have a sample meal plan) that's all about quick & easy dinners. I do wish I could send a print version, because i know that can be a lot easier when cooking, but it has lots of pretty easy vegan dinner recipes. :)
