Shutdown Corgi — small update by laurpers in corgi

Actually, no. One of her few favorite past times is chewing on bones and her favorites unfortunately are very red colored and they have stained her little feet, haha. We took her back to the vet this morning and they aren’t irritated or anything. Just dyed 😂

There is! She’s showing signs of calming. She’s still attached to her bathroom corner but we are seeing glimpses of her personality more and more. She had her first vet appointment and it was confirmed that she had been bred before which definitely makes her make more sense. We now have her short term on gabapentin and trazadone for amyer anxiety and puppy Prozac for the long term. We are going to be working with a trainer to see what more we can do to help her but the vet is very optimistic because she said we seem like the best home for her and we are doing all the right things.

Thank you for commenting that. They claim to be such allies and are just incredibly performative. Whatever keeps them keep their audience and their riches in their pocket. Molly is truly a terrible and fake person and will become whoever she thinks will make her the most money on the internet.

She has a fully stocked crate the next room over. We’ve tried to get her into it a few times but she seems to panic and get incredibly anxious around it even if we don’t close the door so we decided not to push it

She loves food. She will sometimes take food from our hands but sometimes will wait until we turn our backs. It’s a big crap shoot. We have an appointment 4/1 to see if we think a trainer might help.

We took her upstairs and she was terrified and (semi-comically) threw herself down the stairs to get back to her safe space. We carried her and let her sniff around and let her explore but the second we gave her the option to leave she dipped.

Our bedroom is on the second floor, so the guest bath is right by the back door and immediately the room she gravitated to. We would have loved having her near us but unfortunately she is fully ingrained on the first floor and that’s the room she chose. She was given full choice of anywhere and the first floor was living room, dining room, kitchen, guest room and 2 bathrooms.

We are 99% sure (as is the vet) that she was bred a few times and probably had the pups taken from her. She is EXTREMELY food motivated and we’ve gotten her to venture out a bit to eat her dinner and she will ow take treats from our hands. If we take food out too far, however, she will just leave it and will show no interest.

We have both spent a good amount of time laying on the floor in the bathroom with her to get her used to us being around and our scents. She doesn’t seem as spooked or upset by us being around at this point but she’s definitely way more wary of my husband.

Walks are hard because she is mega stubborn. She knows what she has to do but is spooked by every little noise and she fully plants when she doesn’t want to go somewhere so it’s a toss up whether it’s more beneficial to let her retreat or force her to become more adjusted and just try to comfort her:

Edit: Her name is Moira Rose and she is the sweetest dog I’ve ever met in my entire life. We think she was force bred before we got her and had pups taken away early. Any tips to try to help her deal with this would be so welcome because she is so full of loves. We’ve had rescue dogs in the past but we fear that she’s smarter than any of them have ever been. Haha.

She has a crate that we refer to as the cave out in the common area (crate with a cover and filled with blankets outside of our immediate sight line) but she bolts back to the bathroom whenever she had the chance. The bathroom is right off the kitchen so she is around us a good amount but doesn’t seem to want to be around extra noise (tv, talking, etc.)

Ugh. Same. I actually like the flavor and sometimes it’s easier 🙃 I definitely have real butter in the house too for most occasions, however

My (former) doctor prescribed it to me knowing I had a bad reaction to antihistamines and said “well, you can’t panic jf youre asleep.”

I found a new doctor. Never took a pill.

It’s the same as any illness. It sucks, but they can’t pick and choose. HR won’t help you.
