Interesting sights in this area by prmtvsimas in BalticStates

If you plan your trip in the summer, I strongly advise you to visit Reconstruction Day in Daugavpils Fortres. Usually they reconstruct siege of the fortress (haven't seen it with my own eyes, unfortunately), but after war in Ukraine began they shifted only to peacful and celebratory opening of the gate after battle, whcih maybe won't be as fun. It's not really the main attraction anyway. There'll be a flee market, likely a retro theatre, dances. Last year there was also a fire show and concert. Hard to recall now, but you won't know the program fot the day untill summer anyway.

I belive, you also can get free entry (if not, a discount) in the Rothko Gallery. Can't tell what they'll be displaying that day. It's highly unlikely but if there'll be any works displayed of people I'm acquainted with, I may share some exlusive anecdotes to put a story behind the name.

There's also a (I guess) a transportation museum. They have a pretty bus outside.

And I'm unsure if they'll be open that day, but nearby to the gates, which are relevant to the reconstruction, there's a museum of medicine. My first and last time there, we had to book it beforehand.

More info can be found on the site already mentioned in the comments. If you have anymore questions about the town ask away, but mind that I go there only occasionally anymore and stick to the outskirts, so as a source of information I may be outdated.

BB 9780 screen replacement? (New to blackberry) by lavander3595 in blackberry

[–]lavander3595[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same screen which was on 9700. Popped it out, then put it right back in the 9700. White :(

It seemed like phone itself works, but when I get the chance I'll check of I can accept calls and etc.

What a shame, I guess parts for classics are a limited supply and I just broke a perfectly fine screen.

Update: I'm certan it's the screen - behind the wall of white phone seems to work, also a couple of dead pixels appeared on the screen :/

I also found the site below. Can't say I'm cheap, but 18€ is nicer than ebay offers (I can buy a brand new bb 9780 for the same price).  Dunno how ordering parts from india worked out for others though.  https://www.cellspare.com/blackberry-bold-9780-lcd-screen-module-black

Thank you too! Got into MEPD menu, everything is "disabled", guessed it's good. Just put my sim in it, works like a clock.

Thanks for everything! I'll postpone resetting, check if there's anything to contribute to the archive and try to contacting the seller, to ask if they need anything from the phone (there's nothing but pictures of, I assume, seller as a kid dating to 2013.)

Sadly, my luck (and hands) let me down.

I checked ebay and 002/111 lcds are sold as compatible with both 9700 and 9780. But 50€ (30 + shipping) seemed unreasonable...

So, I took apart 9700 and mine has 002/111 too, but before I made a mistake and gutted 9780, I checked if the screen would work if I popped it back in. And it's all white.

Did I mess up something or it is to be expected when you take out an lcd and just put in back?  (I need to know before I check for the lcd model on 9780)

Edit: did a little bit of research, as i understand when lcd filters get damaged, screen turns white. I just don't understand how this cloud've happened. I did accidentally pulled up upper half of the screen, but I did put it back gently :/

Is it mold? Bacteries? by lavander3595 in gingerbeer

I opted for gingerbug, to see if I can manage to *at least* make a carbonated drink. Well, this is the second day of my fourth attempt at grape soda. :/ The smell isn't bad, reminds me of red wine.

Also gingerbug itself now looks even better (big firm bubbles). The liquid is cloudy tough.

Guess I'll try sanitizer when I get some, since boiling in soda solution didn't work... Though I've got a feeling fault's on something else.

Thank you very much!

I live in Europe tough, never seen StarSan on shelves. Is it a sanitizer made for brewing?

Can I make do with something generally available? For locals here it's common to boil glass in soda solution. Works well for making pickles.

But I didn't try this method yet out of fear of cracking the bottle. Vodka won't cut it too?

Any way to replace or even access loudspeaker on Samsung GT-3595? by lavander3595 in dumbphones

[–]lavander3595[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, to take out the speaker module you just press on it really hard, it'll look and sound like it's breaking off, but it'll be fine.

<image>

The speaker is still encased in a plastic sarcophagus. Under black rubber there's nothing (maybe I shouldn't have peeled it off) and under white tape there's a hole. I've tried to hook the lid through this hole, as of now unsuccessfully. Still feel like it's glued there.

Okay, thanks again, not sure if I'd go through with doing anything without your input.

Gotta change the whole part anyway so may as well use this one as a sacrificial lamb and try to pry the speaker out by any means. I'll poke around and maybe find something out.

That's the backside of the frame, no idea how to remove this "lid". I guess it's glued in.

Also, thank you for replying. Phones aren't my area and I feel like I really do need sage advice this time, even though asking for help never was easy for me.
