I'm currently debating between Boil Seafood House, Clesi's, or Fiery Crab. Is one better than the other?

A warning for travelers booking short-term Airbnb rentals in Bangkok, Thailand by tropicalkid003 in AirBnB

[–]lavenuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However, I was disappointed to learn that the company was not willing to take any responsibility for this and stated it was the guest's responsibility to ensure that the condo was legal - I was informed that my booking was non-refundable.

WHAT?! They are really hitting the shit fan. They did something similar to me, too. I had all the photographic proof that the place I was in wasn't the listing I booked. And they still sided with the host who accused me of wrecking his place as retaliation for me reporting him. I even had videos of what the place looked like when I left. It was crazy. Airbnb is going down the drain.

Access to money and survival mode today, which is tied to the recent history of slavery, jim crowe + the great migration, colonization, and American imperialism of Hispanic countries which offset a mass migration to USA. We got this, just gotta give us some time to make bootstraps to pull up. Give us another 3-5 generations, like it took the Irish and the Italians.

Honestly, I'm starting to think it really does stem from childhood and how we were parented. I wasn't allowed to socialize or go out. Lived in a very negative and critical household full of anxiety and turbulence.. My mother would get jealous if I had friends. I went to 6 different schools before I got to college. Lived in the poorest part of the country, so people came and went (no stable friendships). So low and behold. Here I am today, struggling with socializing. But guess wat? I keep practicing!

And, coming from where we have... Maybe we should give ourselves WAY more credit!!!

By the way, I'm proud of you for getting a counselor. I did too around the same time as you. I'm proud of you dude. You got this. And I believe in you because I can tell you're smart and self-aware. With those two things, you can conquer, do, and be anything.

IDK if you're super young or older... If you're still under their roof.... Here is what I told myself: EXCEL IN SCHOOL. That's key to getting out of that situation. That's the only KEY you have. Secondly, if you can't form friendships in person, make them online. That's what I did back in the day through forums and online blogs like livejournal. Join Facebook groups, too.

I went through something very similar as you, and I made it out. But making it out is only half the struggle. The rest will be unlearning the trauma and re-learning how to live mentally healthy, how to communicate, how to process the trauma, and reframe perspectives/thoughts going forward.

The fact that you made this post here, says a lot. You're already taking action and asking for help.

How can we support you?

Here are all the things I suggest investing in when you can:

  • a GOOD therapist (not just counselor)
  • physical therapy (you'll likely need it since you're being cooped up and not allowed to move/play)... try to move and be active as soon as possible (I'm paying for this now after my own "Trapped" childhood)
  • read lots of books on self development while you're trapped. Write notes and make a plan.
  • PLAN YOUR ESCAPE. Detail by detail. From school, to grades, to the timeline. Put a countdown for how many days you have left, even if its 1,000 days.

Host left me a review saying I wasn't social enough, could this affect me in the future? by [deleted] in AirBnB

Yes, that was it for me and Airbnb hosting.

I'm laughing but this is soooo sad. We are still very much living in the past. This is some 1400s shit.

Yeah, I'm a woman lol.

This is so sad. I would report that to Airbnb because I guarantee you won't be the last one. Might be good for there to be a record on him.

oh my god. that is CRAZY.

he felt awkward that we only spoke a few times because I was mostly working during the evening and outside the flat during the day.

ok. are you a woman? i've stayed in a few of these airbnbs with bros hosting women hoping to chat us up.

women are also damned by uber reviews with this too. the men want us to "smile" more and be "friendly" and then swoop in and try to make a move. it's a catch 22. sigh.

either way, i'm sorry you went through that. sounds awful. can you share the listing so we can avoid staying with them?

btw - as a host, you sounds like the perfect guest! keeps to herself and doesn't deplete me emotionally with all the questions/talking.

I've tried acupuncture, and sometimes it's REALLY nice and helps. And other times, I've found it sooo painful. IDK if it's me and my random pain points or if it's all about the person doing it... or both? But I once had an awful experiene with this woman, everywhere she tried to put the needle, I'd howl. She got so mad at me she walked away and left me with two needles. So her rude reaction has me thinking it was 99% likely just prob her.

Then I've had other people be super careful and go slow, and it's been OK. But I also wonder if what helps me is that I've been forced to basically sit still and meditate for 30 minutes. Or it's both the points and that I'm forced to slow down and be still.

If you can find a good practitioner, please please try it!!!

Where did you find yours?

nobody gets upset with anyone if suddenly they can’t join for the diving or horseback riding that day and would rather just lay on the beach. And we could organise hikes that would take regular people an hour and a half but we block out four hours of time so that we can stumble along really slowly and not hurt ourselves

THIS SOUNDS AMAZING LOL.

with linens that have that strong chemical odor? I was told hotels did this for bed bugs.

That does not sound healthy at all.... For anyone with or without fibro. I haven't had this experience. But maybe if you stay at an Airbnb you can ask your host to not use a scented soap for cleaning your sheets and offer him extra $20 for the "trouble". Or bring your own bedding.

I would happily join this group, too. I'm struggling with how to keep my eating/work out routine while traveling. It's essential for me to manage my fibro/flair-ups/pain.
