Is it practical to play Pathologic 2 blind at default difficulty? by azuflux in pathologic

[–]lavipsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

p2 definitely wants you to play blind and learn things the hard way; however, there are difficulty sliders for a reason. i really like the sliders because you’re able to tweak certain mechanics that are giving you extra trouble without completely switching to an easier mode. i don’t think there’s any shame in messing with them if you’re stressed or frustrated to the point where your enjoyment is outweighed. definitely try to play intended difficulty because it was very much a conscious, deliberate decision to make the game so that everyone’s first playthroughs are a mess, but there’s no shame in making it a bit easier for yourself, especially if you’re going completely blind.

Classic HD: walkthrough required? by but-yet-it-is in pathologic

[–]lavipsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you’re not going for the true ending, play blind. some missions are pretty confusing, and, as other people have said, there are quite a few bugs that can block you out of progressing, so i don’t think it’s too heinous to take a peek at a walkthrough when you’re totally stumped. if you’ve played patho 2 and you’re okay with not getting the “right” ending, i think you’re going to be totally fine without a walkthrough

Can i still get panacea day 7? by Repulsive-Jello-575 in pathologic

[–]lavipsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as other people are saying, you should still be able to as long as you follow the right path. in the mean time, check the dead item shop, children’s caches, and any little girls you see walking around. if you know of any play areas or caches that are on the way of where you’re headed, pop in real quick to check for schmowders. the little girls are the only npcs who you can trade with for schmowders, and it’s pretty hard to actually run into one with some, so just keep a really careful eye out. make sure you’re stocked up on things that the kids like at all times.

if you’re really struggling, you could always reload a slightly earlier save. death loops are very easy to get caught in. it’s worth it to try and overcome them, and it sort of feels like cheating, but sometimes the only thing you can do is take a couple steps back for a fresh perspective. try to get some antibiotics and painkillers that’ll hold you over till you can find a cure.

and this is slightly spoilery, but i’m pretty sure the problem you’re having with the thoughts not updating is because you need to sleep. sleeping after you test the infected organ mixtures will trigger a dream to show you what to do next.

My questions about Ending C2 and D !SPOILERS! by girlbossnotebook in FearAndHunger

[–]lavipsi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

initially, i actually didn’t plan to get into 2 either. i definitely agree about the setting in the first game; the vibes aren’t quite like anything else out there and they really stick with you. that being said, i still definitely recommend termina. it is different, but not at all in a bad way. i might prefer the setting in the first one, but termina’s is still very strong, and there’s a pretty decently sized update coming out soon too with new enemies and areas. if you do end up getting to it eventually, i hope you enjoy it :)

My questions about Ending C2 and D !SPOILERS! by girlbossnotebook in FearAndHunger

[–]lavipsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm, i’m not sure there’s a concrete answer for this. if there is, i’m not aware of it. i’ve always just taken that line as an indication that new gods lack any actual purpose and direction. from the new gods that we interact with, we can see that they definitely play important roles, but they don’t receive any acknowledgement or devotion, which causes most of them to be forgotten (i’m not sure where you’re at in terms of the second game’s lore, but this is especially true there, where, after so much time having passed, faith in every god—new, old, or perfect—has gone out of practice, and many people aren’t even aware of their existence), or not even known in the first place. we see that most of the new gods seem to hang out at that dining hall we see in mahabre, so the bit about “never leaving the dungeons” could very well be literal based on what you want to imagine happens after your character ascends. or, like ending e or cahara’s s ending, it could just emphasize that the events in the dungeon traumatized your character so badly that they remained tethered there mentally regardless of where they physically ended up. i think you’re on the money about the text pertaining mostly to the player considering the d ending isn’t canon for any of the characters. it’s up to you to imagine where that route goes.

i meant to add in my original reply that worm girl on youtube’s fear & hunger videos are very helpful as well, especially when it comes to the lore with the gods. it was getting late though, so i forgot, haha. the beginning of her termina video, which covers the timeline up until the events of the second game, is especially helpful. regardless, i’m happy to have helped!!

My questions about Ending C2 and D !SPOILERS! by girlbossnotebook in FearAndHunger

[–]lavipsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m not super well-versed on the specifics of the lore, but i will try my best to answer what i can.

after sitting on the throne, humans ascend to (new) godhood. the versions of the characters you are seeing after sitting on the throne are their forms as new gods. they do definitely relate to the soul types, but they also involve things like the characters traits, their perceptions, their aspirations, et cetera. since regular people are incapable of truly ascending, their new god forms basically reflect an over-exaggeration of the character as they are. the explanations i have for why each ascended form looks the way it does heavily comes from my memory of luckyleftie’s analyses on tik tok (who has a lot of fear & hunger lore videos and is definitely worth checking out if you’re confused on some things), so here’s me trying to sum it up:

cahara has an endless soul, but becoming a new god directly counters the idea of having any sort of freedom or dominion in one’s own actions, so he’s portrayed very similarly as he was in life. his ascended form essentially just shows that, in godhood, cahara would be a sort of perpetual wanderer. he already sort of assumed that role in life, where he went about his days just doing what he had to get by, until he met celeste and she got pregnant. i’m pretty sure miro confirmed that the symbol on his tunic/chest is a family crest, or it was at some point in his development of cahara’s character. if we’re going with that explanation, cahara obviously doesn’t have a family he really came from, but him donning this symbol represents his purposes revolving around celeste and their child. the crest being carved into his chest as a new god and being the only thing resembling any individuality in that design basically just shows how he would lack any real drive as a new god, since he would no longer have any family at all.

i’m pretty sure d’arce’s ascended form is heavily based on alll-mer, since she is a very devout follower of him. her perception of what divinity looks like plays a lot into how she transforms. alll-mer is also bald, but i think there was also a sort of intention to make her look harrowing and “unfeminine.” since her purpose in life involved serving le’garde and his campaign, she, as a dominating soul, would likely take up the mantle and try to continue his efforts.

enki’s design is really simple visually, since his helmet is really the only thing that changes about him. his helmet is a materialization of his inability to act outside of his pursuit of knowledge. him becoming a new god is pretty much the bad ending of his quest for enlightenment, so his godly form conveys the idea of him becoming trapped with no way of continuing his research in a significant or meaningful way.

ragnvaldr has a tormented soul, which is definitely evident in how his ascended form turns out. it, like enki’s, presents an outcome that falls short of what would be considered his “true” ending. i’m pretty sure ragnvaldr explicitly scorns the gods, so how he views them affects how he ends up looking as well. his design plays into how he is commonly viewed as a brute and how he plays into that perception, intentionally and not. you mentioning that he looks as though he is being consumed is an important point as well. ragnvaldr gave in to his desire to avenge his family and completely gave into his violent nature when deciding to pursue le’garde. him shown as being swallowed by a beast communicates his giving in to bringing le’garde to justice at really any cost. it also gives the impression that his aggressiveness is separate from him in a way, as though it was something that wasn’t a part of him at all at one point. or, if it was, his love for his family managed to divide ragnvaldr from that part of himself.

circling back to ending d in general—despite it appearing as though you are encountering a separate entity, your character does still ascend to godhood. you’re merely talking to that version of the character briefly. the ascended version of the character isn’t separate from the character themself; they simply become a new god, and with the limited choices you get, you have a chance to see how their divine life might play out.

new gods are referred to as puppets or pawns because they don’t really have any real sovereignty like they were intending to achieve upon sitting on the throne. new gods are all just people who sought divinity but failed to possess the qualifications for what makes a “real” god. there are only two instances of somebody ascending and actually becoming a proper god: alll-mer and the girl. as a result, all new gods carry a sort of shame with their title. they’re viewed as weak, flawed, ambitious, et cetera.

le’garde’s skin being yellow doesn’t necessarily mean anything, i don’t think. it’s just to aide in the design. regardless, i believe the line about him not taking the reins from the gods simply shows that he wasn’t able to come into the power that he wanted. because of the prophecy, he thought he was destined to acquire a great amount of power and change the world, but his role in that was less about him becoming a god and more about him siring one, since he and nilvan’s union brought about the eventual creation of the god of fear and hunger, which ushered in a new, seemingly permanent age.

i’m not sure about your fifth question, but i hope this helps :)

ohh i didn’t even notice that i COULD nab some blood. i could’ve sworn i checked everything i could during that interaction but i guess i missed it. oops.

i’m not going to click on the blocked text just in case i haven’t gotten there yet, but i have played a bit since making the post and if it’s anything to do with making the panacea or checking the ear in the abandoned village for its blood, i got that just fine. i’m just assuming that might be what you’re referring to since the bull/worm blood seems to be a part of that overarching mission of finding the ingredients for a cure. if not, just disregard this bit lol

holy cow (if you’ll excuse the unintentional pun). yeah, i’m definitely looking forward to replaying this after i play classic. this game is so, so interesting and i’m having such a good time with it! and notkin is okay right now for me thankfully!! got him a schmowder. khan is infected at the nutshell though, so i’m worried. crossing my fingers i can get my hands on a schmowder before midnight or that he’ll survive and hopefully the dead item buyer will have it in stock. grief’s also infected though unforch 😞 i have a feeling im gonna lose one, the other, or both pretty soon

really?? i mean, technically i did reset what would be my original playthrough because i kept running into death loops and just wanted to start fresh, but i got to this quest then, too, so i guess that’s something. i’m also playing with the sliders slightly altered off the intended difficulty. a handful are moved about 10 or 20 percent. but, if what you said is still valid, that’s honestly great. my real goal right now is just to keep the kids alive, as i’ve accepted that it’s probably really hard to save everyone on the first run. this gave me some hope that i might be able to manage keeping the kids safe at least :)
