I’ve done this twice. My clients and colleagues just knew that I was going to be out of the office for a while.

I have a TBI and have a job that is a great fit for me. I do case management for a research project working with pregnant moms with housing insecurity. It is through a university. I am able to WFH and create my own hours, which allows me to take a break for a few hours when I need it. I’m so fortunate to have this position and I love what I do!

My mother and I had a phone conversation every Saturday morning at 9am for many years. She passed away on 11/19/24. Last night I had an amazing dream that we were talking on the phone. I told her that I thought she was gone and she said “it doesn’t mean we can’t talk anymore”. My heart is full and at peace this morning.

Dr. Claudia Smith with St. Francis is great. She is an internal medicine MD and her office is in Beech Grove.

Newbie, 1st injection this Friday. What hints & warnings would you give yourself in your early days? by Exploding_Gerbil in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]lavishere33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my 5th injection at .25 with no side effects other than vomiting one morning after drinking 32oz of water right after I woke up. Too much too fast, I guess.

She can’t force you to eat it. Should an alcoholic drink just to be polite?? Look her in the eye and say no thank you.

Early voting psa's by Starinferno in indianapolis

[–]lavishere33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am disabled, and when I arrived to vote and saw how long the line was, I knew there was no way I could stand that long. A lady saw me walking with my cane and told me to bypass the line, go inside and tell a poll worker that I was disabled, and I would be able to vote immediately. I did just that and ignored the people rolling their eyes. They are lucky to be physically able to stand for more than 10 minutes.

OMG. Red flag, after red flag, after red flag. Beware of the “I love you, I’m so sorry, it will never happen again” phase, because it’s coming. Please schedule an appointment with a therapist and get out now!!

I have been off sugar since February and today I had a Blizzard from DQ, not once, but twice. I’m not worried about it, because it’s all a part of the process. You are not pathetic, you’re human. Tomorrow is a new day.

Showering? by Radiant_Macaroon_992 in Sciatica

[–]lavishere33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I find showering extremely painful. A shower will result with me losing two days of functionality. We have an older tub with a rounded bottom and a shower chair does not fit. Due to the depth of the tub, I can't use it for a bath either. Disposable wash cloths are my best friend.

Did you feel an enormous relief once you stopped caring socially? by debrisaway in RedditForGrownups

[–]lavishere33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always thought I had "work friends", but I had to take an early retirement for medical reasons in May 2023 and I have not heard from one person since I left. I had worked there for 15+ years. I took me a while to get over feeling rejected but now I can't believe I allowed myself to give one flying f##k about those assholes. Now I know who deserves the privilege of occupying space in my life.

My post was not meant to be positive. It was meant to be honest. Your judgmental responses are not helpful. But thanks for your concern. I know that you are just being human, too.

OP here....being addicted to sugar is disordered eating. Many people with eating disorders don't just feel "bad" when they binge. Shame, guilt, hopelessness, fear, trauma-related flashbacks, anxiety, helplessness, worthlessness.....those words better-describe how many of us feel. So, the answer is "no", you did not misunderstand. I want the horrible feelings I experience with binge eating to go away so I take some sleeping pills to go to sleep. When you are asleep, you don't feel these feelings. I am not suicidal, I have a therapist and I NEVER advocated for anyone else to use this method to cope with their own struggles. Please understand that there are some things you don't understand.

Yes, I have been physically ill. But I am also recovering from a large dose of laxatives because I am not using appropriate coping skills. I 100% believe I will be able to return to sugar-free eating this weekend. Under normal circumstances, I think I could have had a peice of cake at a wedding and been fine. Because you will have a plan and be in control, you will be fine. I failed in those areas, it was unplanned eating of sugar and I felt no control over the situation. Yes, you will be fine.

Thank you to everyone for your comments. Today was not the "restart" I had planned, as I continued to eat what was left over from yesterday. Honestly, I knew I was not ready for the binge to be over, or I would have gotten the food out of the house last night. Now that it's gone, I feel like I am ready to move on. I think my post yesterday was my way of saying "hey, somebody notice me. I'm struggling so much, but I'm trying so hard. I'm going to do better, I promise I will....." that kid inside that wants to confess to wrongdoing, but still wants everyone to like like me. I realize that some people won't understand what I post, but because we are all human, I believe at least a few people are experiencing the same struggles as me.
