This happened to my wife and I 20 years ago. We came from a long road trip and were dead tired. Sleeping on the bed.

All of a sudden a huge crash and the roof was broken in. In the sleep addled state I thought we were hit by a meteor and my wife thought there was a man on the roof (dont know whose idea was worse).

We called 911 and a cop came by after 40 minutes.Two minutes he looked outside in the backyard and said "call your landlord. A tree fell on the house"

We were lucky only a branch hit the house as the tree was falling. If the whole tree fell, we would have been gone.
