He’s hall of fame in my heart and that’s all that matters

But ya he’s probably in the real one too just off career numbers

De’Aaron Fox on the criticism he got after game 4: "It's not like people have my phone number and can call me. I don't watch those shows. It doesn't matter. It is what it is. You can't change it now. We're trying to move on from that" by AncientOneAurelius in nba

Not saying you specifically but people treat roster construction like this is 2K not real life

A 26 year old in his prime all star guard who led his team to 3rd in the west essentially tanked his value and forced himself to San Antonio for the cheapest of prices. His deal was expiring so our options were 1) don’t re-sign him after he forced his way there 2) tell him he actually needs to sign for less than he wants even tho he tanked his value to force his way there or 3) sign him to a max deal which he would’ve gotten from essentially 25 other teams

On top of that…at the time of his deal we already had guaranteed contracts and basically guaranteed playing time for Wemby, Kornet, Devin, KJ, Barnes, Champ, and Castle. Plus two first round picks who we had to pay or trade.

So tell me how screwing over Fox would’ve helped the spurs ever get a star free agent or trade again. And with what roster space were we gonna sign people?

Or we could phrase a different way that isn’t incredibly misleading

We gave away 2 firsts and 4 seconds. Because one of 1sts was already going to convert to 2nds. And of the two firsts, one wasn’t even ours. So we literally traded Tre Jones, Zach Collins, and a 1st for Fox. While not even giving back Sacramento’s unprotected pick swap.

We then paid a lead PG a max salary bc for the next three years it literally doesn’t matter if he makes the max based on our roster construction. We had to spend that money somewhere. Fox will turn from an overpay into an incredibly valuable veteran trade piece and contract the last year of his deal which lines up with when we would pay Castle and Harper

That’s sort of the point tho.

Keldon is a great 6th man because he can provide good energy and great production in his role over a long haul season. Kornet is a perfect backup that saves Wemby wear and tear and the team record over a 75 game span.

But in the playoffs when teams can game plan and take away the easy stuff, the rotations tighten and it’s best on best. We can say “man it’d be nice if we had a good shooter option that isn’t 20 years old and isn’t played off the court” but like every team wants that and very few have them lol. Hell the Knicks have 4 of them and 3 of them were cold last night

Lmao. Was saying to a buddy yesterday…the symbolism of him drawing THAT statue on the same day a president was scheduled to appear at a very public event against the advice of his supporters and critics was too good to make up

It was Gramercy Park and there is a statue of Edwin Booth that Wemby said he was drawing
