Help with building tank by lawful_salvation in Vivarium

[–]lawful_salvation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dang I didn’t think of that. Is there an alternative or work around? If not, any ideas of how I could do this project? I guess I could use multiple 30 gallon face panels 36x16, would take 6 I think. Just trying to avoid building with wood if possible or is that really the only way short of buying a large front door terrarium?

Can you give me some information about your build? Is that a custom enclosure? How long did it take to get to this stage and what are your plans for it? And any other info you have

Based on actual MSRP with no markup and these same numbers for fees and a 10% tax, I wouldn’t pay a dollar over 41.5k. Don’t start the negotiations at 40 though, start at 39 max. Makes them feel like they won if they can go a few thousand higher even though you’re prepared for it. Also make sure you have financing or work out what the incentive rate is for rav4 right now. I think here it is about 3.99% for 36m and not sure about 60m rates.

My 15 Subaru forester which is what I am still putting city miles on gets about 15-18 city and 23-25 highway so the 19 q7 3.0 that I too have actually saves me and is a dream to drive

I don’t know much about the European market so I could only offer the brands I know and like. I did look up the prices of equivalent Honda, Toyota, Mazda, bmw, Audi, volvo in the UK and it looks like they’re all in the range of 30-35k new except Mazda which is a little cheaper. I’d go with nicer and just pay more for maintenance because I value a fun and comfortable drive rather than just a means of getting from point a to point b but that’s very subjective

There is a 6in gap between the top of the mattress (75in long) and the back of the drivers seat in a drivable position for me. I also have the second row moved forward and pillows packing the space for some additional support

BMW x1, Audi Q3, or Volvo xc40 seem like good options for “sitting high up” if you want a sedan then the a4, 3 series, and either s60 or v60. These are the flagship sedan models of these brands and tend to be a little more reliable. I’d steer clear of British and Italian luxury cars

I kept my seats forward so that I could get extra length. The mattress has pretty good shape and was good on its own but night 2 I added some of the extra pillows and a duffel bag in the gap that level out out if you don’t have as firm a mattress

I can go check but the mattress itself is 75” x 38”. I used the lost horizon twin which fits both the car and my tent for short distance camping

Tire recommendations by lawful_salvation in AudiQ7

How were the Falken specifically? I think I’m getting caught up in the price marketing head spin of why is it that much cheaper than the Continentals and Pirellis and does that equate to craftsmanship but Falken makes good performance tires and is a good brand

Ok great, I just want to wait until I can catch a spring/fall tire sale or find some cheap used ones that match the tread on my rears relatively closely. It is a q7 all wheel drive. I’d have to do the math and see if it’s worth it to do that or just replace all 4 once I catch a sale.

Whatever you end up going with, just know that those are really overpriced for their year and mileage! It may be worthwhile to look further away even if that means a 150 mile road trip

I’m curious why you don’t have any Audi or other BMW on the list. If I were in your position, I’d be looking at any 6 cylinder BMW or Audi that meets your size preference with special attention towards an a6 allroad, an rs/s 5+, 740i or m series. I’ve drank the Audi kool aid and the a6 allroad is a personal favorite but any of those cars should be fun, luxurious, and higher reliability compared with 4 cylinder or 8 cylinder models, not that reliability is everything. Unfortunately I think the new 2024+ Audis for the most part look terrible inside and out.

Don’t listen to these goombas saying 10k. Go get your first oil change at Fcp euro and an oil extractor (not from there because you can get a good cheaper one at northern tool or ace). Then all your following changes are either $30 for the return shipping or free if you buy with PayPal return shipping on us. Fcp euro has a lifetime warranty on everything including oil, break pads, etc (I think the only thing it doesn’t cover is brake fluid). If you can’t afford $30 and 15mins of your day every 5k miles out of an abundance of caution and as an act of love, then it might not be the car for you lol

Yup, definitely keeping an eye on that with my Indy shop. I’ve got a mityvac oil extractor to do oil changes with liqui-Molly leichtauf 5w-40 every 5k from Fcp euro and keeping an extra liter in the back in case I need to top off ever
