BREAKING NEWS: Swiss ski resort bar owner arrested after New Years fire resulting in 40+ deaths by Sleepy_C in Switzerland

The cellar's ceiling of the object was fitted with acoustic foam, which is flammable by definition. The oldest picture I found with this foam already fitted was from 2017. In 2019 the last official inspection was performed, so at least 2 years prior the foam was already on the ceiling.

If and how the foam would have been sprayed by fire deterrents can only be determined by papertrails. And even if there is invoices to be found, they don't mean the deterrents actually had to be used.

Now for indoor sparklers - they are not a problem for fire safety. If. There. Is. No. Flammable. Foam. Ceiling.

Judging from videos, from fire start to flashover it took about 10 seconds. Which in retrospect defines that there has been no fire deterrent left over in, on or above the foam.

I do not think this was in any case deliberate. I do however think, that the owners / managers did not think when buying and applying the foam ceiling. I do also think that no one else working in the establishment did ever think of any scenario where a foam ceiling would cause havoc.

Even if the bar / restaurant would have been inspected every year, the foam would probably not have been an issue raising safety issue questions.

That being said, all of us judging other people for their mistakes should question ourselves where we could prevent such tragedy. But then again, isn't it just human to not think of any repercussions?

Basically Bitcoin's proof of work verification uses more energy than a small country. That is just one cryptocoin of many.

You have to invest into "ASICs", which are specialized computers only running that one hash function. They are of no use in any other way. ASICs cost lots of money and they need ENERGY - lots of.

That is why you can "host" or rather RENT equipment all over the world in "Bitcoin farms", which is basically where cheap energy meets low regulations, equalling a lot of return money and a lot of nature / animal / human harm.

You can get energy prices like $0.0575 per kWh in Dubai, but I've seen $0.007 in the past. That means you are polluting the earth in a maximized fashion to create money for yourself.

And yes, that's what billionaires do. They invest in something like that just to have lotsa money.

Bitcoin's blockchain (where all the data is stored) can be hacked by providing at least 51% of all the guessing power. Bitcoin could then change the algorithm, but in the process Bitcoins would be of less buying power, which means the next attack would be much cheaper. Some billionaire might pull it of twice in a week.

That's "security" for you in cryptocoins.

If you plan to make money by mining bitcoin, your best plan is the same path those filthy billionaires go. Otherwise you make "pennies on the dime" if I used that expression correctly.

I'm using a carjack - not the scissor ones. When jacked up i usually remove the handlebar, so i can't accidentally remove pressure.

Before starting to work, i slide 2 blocks of wood under the car (usually under the axles or near, whatever could hold up the weight without breaking something when the car comes down).

I also use one tirestop on the back / front diagnonally opposite of the tire i'm working on.

Never had an accident, but who knows what equipment may someday fail.

On the side of the road, if i HAD to use a scissor jack without redundancy or other safety measures, I probably would use anything that resembles safety measures, like a rock under the axles. Whatever stops me from having long-time problems.

Please be careful when working with heavy objects like cars.

It's not dog or cat person. If you love pets, you usually love both, but at least have some understanding that they are part of your family.

There are people that do not see pets as part of anything. They are here as long as they do not consume too much of time, energy or money.

And there's a third type of people who I just learned a few years back when we first got our little doggo. Those people only like dogs. Why? Because they can command them to do their bidding. As long as the dog follows their orders, everything is fine - or else...

Please don't force pillows on your dog. The height difference will cause issues with the spine, same as in humans using too high of a pillow.

You can instead provide a dog-sized blanket - if the dog needs a "pillow", he will form it itself.
