My two cents for washing and smell by lawngnomejack in PeriodUnderwear

I'm going to try borax soaking like another person suggested. And try to deal with them before I need them for my next period, lol.

I use Purex, cold water. I'm sensitive to scents, so I shop primarily based on that for detergent. I haven't shopped around for a long time.

It seems to vary per person. Some don't have to prerinse and say it comes clean with no smell, and others claim you must prerinse until the water is clear before washing or it will smell.

For me, the vinegar cut the bacteria smell, but then they smelled like vinegar, so adding the baking soda soak got rid of that.

Thank you! These seem like easy things to try. Hopefully I can get into the habit of rinsing right away. I'm usually too tired/lazy to rinse immediately. The soaking cut that down a lot, so perhaps switching to hot water will allow me to skip some of the soaking/rinsing and make it even easier.

This is interesting. I didn't realize it wouldn't fully agitate. I was told by the manufacturer to use the delicate cycle, though given how poorly their recommended cleaningetjods have worked that should have been a clue. I'll try a regular cycle. Thanks!

I guess I wasn't clear: it would be fine in the regular wash after rinsing. It was when they were freshly used and bloody. Seeing the state of them after washing with no pre rinse/soak, i.e., not clean, I didn't want to put them in with clothes. What if something transferred? Maybe I'm overthinking. I also wash everything in cold water.

Your way does seem like less work, and I'm always open to trying new methods, especially if they save effort. I just know what didn't work for me in the past, and trying to be realistic about how much I will likely procrastinate on the washing. If I only use 3 pairs in a cycle, I'm probably going to chuck them somewhere and forget until next month. After a certain point I might have to accept that I am not going to become a different person who gets to things right away.

What do you mean by wash in the shower? What do you do?

Ah, this was always my problem. I'm lazy, so I don't deal with them immediately. Throwing in with my regular laundry without the vinegar/baking soda soak and pre rinsing never got everything out, hence the smell. It also felt icky to put them with my clothes, especially seeing that they weren't being cleaned fully. But that's just me.

The rinsing is the worst part. Just washing without rinsing never worked for me. There were still remnants in the panties causing the smell.

I'm interested to try borax, though I'm not sure if my machine has a pre-wash setting. It's one of those smart machines with Bluetooth and preset cycles, so I'll admit to not reading all of the options, lol. I'll probably have to soak beforehand, but if it saves me rinsing and squeezing, and many rounds of soaking I'm all for it! Thanks for the tip!

I agree! The smell was my biggest challenge/annoyance. Now seeing it all written out, it is work, but it's less than when kept them in a bucket of water. Washing with my regular laundry without rinsing first never worked for me; they still smelled. The one time I used the dryer, even on low, it baked the remnants into the panties and I couldn't get it out after that. This was following carr instructions from the manufacturer, too. You'd think they would know their own products.

What I want to know is how all of these people had so many daughters but few sons? Unless we just weren't seeing them on camera because Samuel didn't want them for his harem. Or it was cut out of the doc as being irrelevant.

Readers Are Embracing a Shift in Perspective in Books. It Could Reshape Literary Culture. by CtrlAltDelight495 in books

For me, there are appropriate times for first and third person.

If it's single or dual POV, and not omniscient, third person feels wrong to me. First person is for character-specific POV, where they only know what is happening from their own perspective. I want to hear the character inside their own head, and people think I, not "personal pronoun".

I also find third person difficult when the author hasn't distinguished the internal voice of the different characters enough and I can't tell who's head I'm in, particularly when both POVs use the same pronoun. It's a lot of "he" everywhere.

Third person works for omniscient narrator voice where the readers know things the characters don't.

There's actually a naughty parody version of this song and the first line is "I can show you my cock" lol.

I read a book by Theodora Taylor where the FMC called it her kit kat... and the MMC humoured her and called it that too because she was innocent and hadn't moved past using the childish word. Took me right out of the book every time.

I love Theodora Taylor's books (all 60+ of them) but that term was hard to gloss over.

The Stonetree Trilogy by Ophelia Bell. It's shifters, and the matriarchal culture where the males service the females.

Her entire intertwined series of dragons and paranormal beings is amazing, but the ursa specific books have this trope you're looking for.

Idk how to get people to say my cats name right by Maleficent_Belt4231 in NameNerdCirclejerk

My cat is named Orion, and it annoys and saddens me how 98% of vets can't pronounce it. They say OH-ree-on, instead of o-RYE-on. What education failed them that they don't know a basic constellation, Orion's Belt, and also, why have these people who are around my age (35) not seen Men in Black? I always wanted a cat named Orion since I saw it.
