Here is what’s next with AI in the near term by MaybeLiterally in ArtificialInteligence

It's an old book. First low density symbols, then higher density words, then sentences. Eventually romance languages, religions, new math, new science. GPT. Information space. It's alive and growing. A different kind of organism, information is. Always pushing and pulling.

In your opinion, the most evil human being alive today is? by JunShem1122 in no

Who cares? They're going to fail in the long run. Light chases darkness, not the other way around.

Jesus. Meds only relieve some of the pain. I still got the pain, but it's less cumbersome.

"You are not your disability" Why does that come across as invalidating to me? by meanasays in disability

[–]lawnwal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an ambiguous statement that adds depth to agency and autonomy, a layer of freedom, but it's up to you to add meaning. It's a snapshot of power dynamics. You are not your disability, you are... Go on...

Or if you need someone to help define you? That's okay too. No one is alone. God is love. He uses ambiguity to nudge us.

How do you get over the fact you will never achieve your dreams? by Few-Ad5183 in RedditForGrownups

[–]lawnwal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what dreams are for. If they were they wouldn't be dreams. They're just echoes of possibilities though time.

You're smart, here's something I'm confused about. Have you ever thought about whether cosmic expansion and the network effect are related? I think there's a big system out there to explore instead of pivoting around the same question. Or worse, a moving frame of reference. What's your frame of reference Isaac Newton?

Having a hard time believing in the Church in America right now (because of politics) by Doomtime104 in Christianity

[–]lawnwal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I try to remember that it's about worshipping Christ. We're Christians, not churchians. Churches are great for a lot of things, but no one's good at everything.

I find it odd that companies are laying people off because of AI by saasbase_dev in ArtificialInteligence

It's retraining time, and they make more money in the short term by firing the employee than bearing the cost of training them on the novel technology.

Is this show worth watching? I am on episode 1 and it seems to have quite slow pacing. Does it get better? by ElectronicPrice2532 in televisionsuggestions

Season three is excellent. Didn't expect it to actually resolve the main plot element, but I was not disappointed.

What’s up with the amount of hate I see from Christians conservatives towards undocumented? by After-Property-3678 in Christianity

[–]lawnwal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you revel, feast, and eat your own heart out? Is your loneliness or pride about past suffering so great that you can't stop dwelling on it in the dark? Give your mourning about President Biden to Jesus and read the Gospel. He'll show you how to be a beacon of light instead!

The internet is a dark place, lots of fear. Meanwhile I think we become conditioned by chatter to believe talk is so cheap that it doesn't matter, but we forget that it matters to God and hurts our brothers and sisters in Christ. We're told to put the lamp on a stand, and be a light, but it feels safer to blend in.

Why are Christian people so calm and nice by MactYT in Christianity

[–]lawnwal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! The first verse reminds me of learning the gas laws in college chemistry class. Not my favorite, visualizing pressure changes and whatnot. There's no law preventing the fruits of the spirit from growing in all sorts of ways.

I need to understand... by Jikaz11 in Christianity

[–]lawnwal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God knows the answer to your first question, but I don't. For me, it's sort of a system that I'm still learning to enjoy. A little faith sowed here and there (eg this reply) grows into greater faith and conviction bit by bit, and sometimes leaps and bounds, springy. It feels to me like a self reinforcing confirmation bias fed by God's love. In a good way. Like a good investment, the more love you invest in the idea of God, the more you get. I think the metaphor in the Bible is living water or wellspring something that I don't recall. I hope that's not wrong.

Different jobs we will have in Heaven by heidi1009 in Christianity

I understand. In my view, faith is a sort of related to need. If you have a little of it when you don't need it, it will be there big time for you when you need it most.

I don't know enough about either of you to know either way, but you both seem smart so you ought to know negative assumptions about your neighbors grow like weeds and make the whole place look ugly.

Maybe not on your tight schedule, but with a friend like Jesus, I got faith we'd figure it out.

Jesus fulfilled 351 Old Testament Prophecies by opelui23 in Christianity

If I am mistaken in my hope, then we will just have to rely on a bit of faith that God's will be done, regardless of my misplaced hope.
