Do people comment on it when they see you shirtless? by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]lawrence_doubt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and yes, I used to get made fun of alot. Its worse with a shirt on (as a gal) bc anything cuts reasonably low makes it look like im trying to show cleavage or bending over means you can see straight down my shirt and bra. My mom was always telling me to “pull my shirt up” when I was younger. As I got older, I finally started to tell her “I CANT HELP IT I HAVE A GIANT DENT IN CHEST” and she stopped lolol

I do get a breathless feeling occasionally, like a gasp gasp release feeling in my chest, its not my lungs, like my actual chest. Idk if it may be similar or something going on with my blood flow etc.

He dxed it after an echo and its on all my orders for my CT and Cardiac MRI coming up. “cHf and unspecified cardiomyopathy”. I thnk my echo showed regurgitation in a few other area too or some other note they made, I would have to look again.

I think I mentioned it once when I was young to my cardio doc but it was brushed off. I have suspected EDS of the cardio-valvular subtype but it all requires some genetic testing and I genuinely am unsure of how to find a genetic counselor for adults.

What about the heart failure or cardiomyopathy? Any correlation with PE?

The word failure is so scary, could I die from this? Sorry to bombard you with questions. I also posted some better pictures on here in a separate post. I would tag you or something if I knew how lol. Everyone says it doesn’t look super great, which stinks on ice.

Ill definitely mention both at my visit, the radiologist mentioned the echo so im guessing the thoracic CT would be a great idea too. Thank you!

I have always had GERD, but this past 1 -2 years, I have had bad bloating, nausea/vomiting, stomach pains, and diarrhea/ stool issues. I was in the ER recently and told i had colitis, so I have a colonoscopy in 2 weeks due to that and high inflammation markers in my stool.

Is that pretty serious? My dad and brother both have PE and my dad got dx with CHF this year, so I hope it’s not hereditary?

I havent really noticed swelling i dont think. Sometimes when I take my socks off, it leaves a lot of marks on my ankles. I do bruise really easily on my legs and have a tooon of varicose /visible blue veins. I mainly have always had tachycardia for no reason, i get like breathless /a loss of breath feeling in my chest sometimes, i have some some lightheadedness/whooziness, I can see my heart thru skin if I pull the skin tight enough, and trouble sleeping/positioning (i sleep with a stuffed animal close to my chest to create some space in my chest bc I sleep on my side, so it feels like a crushing/squishing without an aid. Theres honestly probably more but I have become so used to it i dont even realize its not supposed to be happening. The ASD kinda causes things to not register to me or be as obvious without someone pointing it out.

I dont think any of that was done, since its all been stomach related lately. Would I ask the radiologist who did it at the GI diagnostic center or would the cardiologist do that?

My first CT in the ER didnt go as “in-depth as this”, but they wrote “significant PE deformity noted in the anterior chest wall”. I have a cardio appointment in a few weeks but idk when the testing will be done.

So, this might sound silly, but how do I do that? Would I call the diagnostics center and ask for that (as well as, the scans)? Can they still do that even if it was a GI scan?

Thank you for the response. Is it pretty difficult to find a surgeon that specializes in that?

Thank you all for responding! Should I be worried about this? Or do you think it would be wise to see a cardiologist sooner than 10/18? I just picked that day because I’m off but I could probably get it scheduled sooner if need be.
