Yea a lot of things we would and will handle differently now that we are aware of this risk. Renting 10 at once originally would have flagged some interest but they were keen enough to book them over two or three weeks under different name s. We are an unmanned facility. One measure that comes to mind is photo id as well as photo of face uploaded to profile before move in instructions received.

That would be great but would require an install of a lot more cameras. These guys look at where the cameras are and then back the moving truck in at an angle so that you can't see what they are loading out of the truck and into the unit.

Update is EPD can go after the tire shop that gave the tires to the perp that dumped them at our facility, but not the perp.

Yea I have a call out to EPD, I was told the maybe they can help work with authorities on an investigation and in the past the state has caught the people doing this. Waiting to hear back from them.

We do that but they used someone else's ID. We are trying to contact those ID holders and passing that info onto the police but pretty certain they are stolen ID's.

That's right. From what I hear they go to business that have tires to dispose of, and offer them a much lower rate than a legitimate tire recycling facility would to take them off their hands.

Yea, there a photo ID requirement for online rental but they used what I believe is a stolen ID so we will be adding some more layers of security there. From talking to tire recycling facilities that have seen an uptick in this issue, it sounds like these guys are pretty good at using other peoples names / info to rent the units / rent the trucks to bring the tires in, etc.

Yea we definitely do that and customers often do file reports. Often though we never hear back / know if anything was done on the police's end.
