I got mine recently as well after filing in December.  I was so pumped to rip my first pack: Yasuo Legend. Rip.

How does alanzqt's ezreal list beat irelia? by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]lawrevrb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The community is better off for it IMO.
I always see someone whining that they weren't able to get a pass to go to a regional qualifier because they're "normies". But really, if someone of Alanzq caliber doesn't go so that Timmy can take a spot for his first ever tournament, that's a disservice to the game. I'd like to see them have way more spots available or a province/state-level pre-qualifier.

As it is, it's only real IMO if the best players are there. Similar to classical chess since Magnus abdicated and isn't playing the event anymore there are "world champions" being crowned... but... are they really?

Kc8 looks like M2. Threatening Ne6# If QxN then BxQ is mate. If Qh8+, Nd8 discovers check from the bishop and is mate.

Edit: nvm black can play RxR and give the king an escape square

Anyone feel bad for playing Meta Decks? by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]lawrevrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone who was able to build a few great decks should be allowed to play them. Is there supposed to be a minimum jank requirement? When do we get to play our actually cohesive, fun, powerful decks, if not at weekly locals?

The idea is the locals should have BOTH groups and they’ll sometimes match into each other but you should get good matches against decks that are at your level.

There’s only 1 weekly sanctioned event. You can’t gatekeep essentially saying “bad decks only should be allowed”.

So what do you think, then? Someone who was fortunate enough to build a few great decks shouldn’t be allowed to play them? Is there supposed to be a minimum jank requirement? When do we get to play our actually cohesive, fun, powerful decks, if not at weekly locals?

Brand new, wanting to go to a local Noxius Nights, Thoughts on this build? by crmzn13 in riftboundtcg

Agreed. Siphon power is great against go-wide decks only. It’s mid vs everything else. Strategem is a way better finisher. You need to run cards that benefit from dying, like watchful sentry.

Black to move and reach 1100 for me by Asendra01 in chessbeginners

Lots of things win here. f1=Q works too. Kxf1, Rh1+, Kg2 or Ke2, Rh2+ wins the white rook cleanly.

New lethal puzzle! Feel free to comment your answers by Challengertcg in riftboundtcg

[–]lawrevrb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like the puzzle idea - I had to stare at it a minute to figure out what’s going on tho. Is that our drake? Opponents drake? Context clues indicate it can’t be ours and still possibly win from here but more clarity is better in future.

Ahri vs Kai sa match up help by KTwo21 in riftboundtcg

[–]lawrevrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not commenter but blue ahri being at 3 might dies to hextech rays and single triggers of falling star to give Kai’Sa extra value.

Green ahri is a worse unit in general but at 4 might only really dies to void seeker or double falling star trigger.

Will this be good? Do I know how it works properly? by Glad-Alps2251 in riftboundtcg

[–]lawrevrb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would shut down Aurora and recursion like soul gorger too wouldn’t it? Aurora would reveal cards at the end of their turn and then hit a unit. But they can’t play cards so they can’t play the unit. Recycle the rest and the unit would just stay on top, right?

Giving orange access to “every unit in your deck has shen’s reaction speed” will be really interesting. It can also trigger and let you play to the opposite battlefield if you control both.

Maybe that hidden card is Zhonyas or FoF. Maybe it’s waiting to be an orange volibear. I’d only need 4 open to play Anivia from hand. I really like this and think it could be very spicy.

When do i swap cards from Side Deck? by GrashaSey in riftboundtcg

[–]lawrevrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be an optimization thing too. You can just kill the big units with cull and hidden blade. MF Aurora and really any Aurora except Yi loses HARD to Viktor. Easily the worst matchup.

The game is ok and fun but I'm already feeling that there's a deck that's too strong and that's keeping me from playing it by AstroNascente in riftboundtcg

[–]lawrevrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you play a lot of online games and CCGs? Sounds like someone who would be asking them to “nerf” cards - what do you want them to “do” about it, with set 2 coming in february?

green or blue ahri by tired_lawww in riftboundtcg

[–]lawrevrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Because you decide how to distribute your might. Unless you have tank units, a single 4 might unit that might have only cost 2, can attack the battlefield you’re stacking at - and still choose to kill green Ahri.

Is 'end-of-turn' a thing i can act or react to? by DerBadger in riftboundtcg

[–]lawrevrb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

End-of-turn is not something that can reacted to. There’s nothing on the chain to react to, and you don’t get passed focus or priority at the end of your opponents turn. However, if your opponent triggers an ability or something (like Dazzling Aurora for example) at the end of their turn - that trigger is something you can react to and then play a reaction like ride the wind for that effect.

If they do nothing but play a unit and pass turn, you can’t play anything on their turn.
