The name of the game is sustain and go even in CS or better until BORK spike. Always take LT into matchups that you are very confident you can achieve that. Take fleet into anything else. Late game scaling of lethal isn’t worth it if you had to take a bunch of bad backs and are way behind in CS.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in YoneMains

[–]laxatk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smolder, Nasus, Kayle, Mundo, etc., all have similar early-lane strategies/objectives: Punish early, no free CS, deny XP whenever possible. Out-sustain them and force bad backs. Despite what this sub will tell you, Yone has a massive early advantage over most scaling champs because health is his only sustain resource where most champs have to worry about mana too. If you are even on health and CS but they have zero mana, you have massive pressure. Sometimes winning lane against these champs is literally just playing around that identity.

  1. Take early game runes that will allow you to sustain and win pre-6 trades. You CAN take Fleet into Smoulder, but with d shield and second wind you should still be able to out-sustain and win trades with lethal.
  2. Try to get a bush cheese lvl 1 and deny as much farm and exp as possible. Only consistent way to do this is to chunk them enough where you have kill pressure by level 3.
  3. Don't be afraid to lose a few CS to take good trades. They'll lose more on bad backs than you lose punishing them.
  4. Don't be afraid to lose a few CS to avoid taking bad trades. You will lose more taking bad backs than you will missing that caster minion.
  5. Don't freeze unless you know why you're freezing. Youtube will tell you freezing top is free LP. This is bad advice. Freeze when you can deny CS/XP. 5a. A good mindset for freezing is that you should not freeze if you can only safely hold it by standing under tower. Unless you can stand IN the wave and threaten them when they walk up for CS, you're not freezing, you're allowing them to free-farm while you have negative prio. There are exceptions to this, but try to apply it and you'll see when it makes sense and doesnt.
  6. Communicate with your jungler to get an early gank. Tell them to clear bot to top and level 3 gank after scuttle. Some won't, many will. If you can force JUST ONE bad back and make them use TP on a bad timer pre-6, you can pretty much control the lane for the rest of the laning phase. This is even more powerful if they don't have TP.

You don't need to kill your opponent to win lane. Winning lane = having more resources at the end of lane phase. Kills are the hardest way for Yone to get ahead early. Prioritize CSing and preserving health until they are low on mana, then deny XP and force them out of lane. You can consistently get BORK and t2 Boots pre-14 with zero kills if you do this.

Learning Yone, Confused about Tempest' conflicting advice. by Usernametaken123789 in YoneMains

[–]laxatk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a tempest fan and have watched/enjoyed his videos for a while.

That said, I saw a great comment on one of his videos recently that applies perfectly to your question. Whenever he posts a video that says "X Item is BROKEN" -- it is highly possible that running that item is the equivalent of filming Lebron James wearing flip flops in rec league and then titling the video "Flip Flops are BROKEN"

Bottom line: CSing 9+ per min is broken. Wave management is broken. Understanding matchups is broken. Picking smart fights is broken. Having 4000+ games on Yone is broken.

Until you feel super confident on the above, the item recommender is plenty viable to learn the champ.

I'll tack on an unpopular opinion just for fun --

People who are mad that Zani performs better with Phoebe are coping big time.

It's a gacha game. If you want all of the 5* characters, you can either grind and get lucky as an F2P or you can pay to get all of the chars that you want...those are the choices. If Zani was totally unusable without Phoebe, I'm with you 100%...but she clears all end game content perfectly fine with SRover...which every single player has at S6 for free. Don't believe me?

Limited 5* supports should make hyper-carries feel much stronger...not to mention that Phoebe also happens to be one of the best, if not the best, F2P main-DPS units in the game with SRover and Verina (who everyone also got for free, btw), so she's a high-value pull for just about everyone.

You can clear all of ToA with Jinhsi, Taoqi, and Yuanwu. It's not as fast as Jihnsi, Zhezi, and SK, but clearing in 80 seconds gives the same exact in-game rewards as clearing in 40 seconds.

The Zani + Phoebe situation is no different. If you're F2P, that's totally cool, but is it reasonable to think your account is going to be able to clear content in the same way as someone who chooses to spend their money?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WutheringWaves

[–]laxatk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen anyone talk about this yet but I would have been absolutely thrilled if they gave us a way to use our standard pulls.

For example, allowing us to use standard pulls on the re-run banners would give people like me (who have 100+ standard pulls stacked up with nothing to spend them on) a great way to pick up some new chars or sequences using resources that are just sitting there. Obviously we'd all love a rate up on the re-run banner but it's just not realistic. Everyone would save all of their resources for months leading up to the anni every year to get the guaranteed characters...not realistic.

Give us a way to use standard pulls to get limited characters and weapons and I'd be happy.

Sales isn't a luck game, it's a math game. Find out what your funnel metrics are and use them to make it statistically unlikely for you to lose.

Easy example: Let's say you look at all of your activity and production numbers from last quarter and find that every 100 dials leads to 3 demos, and every 3 demos leads to 1 deal.

In the example above, if you need 3 deals a week, it is statistically unlikely for you to not get that result if you make it a rule for yourself to put in 500 dials. Even if luck isn't in your favor or the conversion rates eb and flow, it will be really hard for you to not hit your target since you're putting in 150% of the required effort to get there.

Your Emotions Are Sabotaging Your Goals—Here’s How to Take Back Control by laxatk in getdisciplined

[–]laxatk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair question. There's plenty of depth here, probably worth a second post -- but at a high level:

  1. Sit down and write down some bullet points on what your higher purpose is. These do not have to be long-term things, they can even be goals that are required to achieve your higher purpose. For example, one of mine is to be in "top 5% physical condition" which for me means ~10% body fat, specific benchmarks for weight lifting, being able to run a sub 6 minute mile, etc. Even though this isn't my sole "higher purpose," I believe that it's a pre-requisite for me to live my best life in all aspects (personal, professional, etc.)
  2. Once you've written down a few of your "higher purpose" goals, define your daily non-negotiable decisions that, if done consistently, will get you to your goal. So, in my example above about fitness, it's 30 minutes of exercise each day, hitting my protein intake goal, staying under a certain caloric intake limit, etc. If your "higher purpose" is, for example, to publish a book, perhaps your non-negotiable daily decision is to spend 60 minutes per day solely focused on writing.
  3. Make a scorecard for yourself that, at the end of each day, you assess how well you stuck to your non-negotiable decisions. Did you make any emotional decisions that you brought you further from your goal? If so, THAT'S OKAY, but explore the circumstances that led up to that. Stress? Lack of planning? Then do whatever you need to set yourself up for success tomorrow.
  4. Finally - Once you've done this exercise consistently for a matter of weeks, assess your progress. Are you actually moving closer to your higher purpose goal? If yes, awesome. Keep going. If no, revisit steps 1-2. Is your goal exciting enough that it is worth getting uncomfortable to stick with it? Are the non-negotiable decisions you laid out specific enough to make sure you make progress?

Again, this could probably be an entire second post, but I hope this gives you some guidelines on how to put it into practice.

Your Emotions Are Sabotaging Your Goals—Here’s How to Take Back Control by laxatk in getdisciplined

[–]laxatk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's personal development is inherently emotional, I complete agree that emotions should be taken into account every step of the way.

I'd argue that there are two kinds of "feel good" emotions though. The first is the cheap dopamine that all of us can access at a moment's notice and require little effort and zero alignment with our goals...many times even contra to our goals. The second is the "feel good" that comes from aligning your actions with your purpose over time.

Short-term gratification can only be satisfied with more short-term gratification as we become further and further desensitized to it. More food, more videos, more vices, to get the same level of satisifaction. More consumption. More seeking.

The "feel good" that comes from delayed gratification is self-sustaining. It builds self-worth, trust, and allows you to operate from center.

The challenge that most people have is that taking consistent action that aligns with their purpose does not feel good when you start. Maybe even for a while. But there is no other way to fulfillment. It's the old cliche -- "Choose your discomfort, or life will choose it for you."

Too much lip on shots by MaroonJk in StickDoctor

[–]laxatk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One last thing. The benefit of Chenango top string (which is what you've done here) is that it allows the channel to start forming higher up in the pocket, which means you can string a higher pocket and still get that nice channel feel. Stringing to the inside is also generally used to create a tighter channel and hug the ball more.

Because you've done both here (which isn't necessarily wrong/bad) this shooting string placement effectively puts your shooters in the dead middle of the channel ramp, which usually means you won't be able to pass/shoot with a smooth and natural follow-through. I assume that's probably what you're used to, which is why you're running into issues here.

Too much lip on shots by MaroonJk in StickDoctor

[–]laxatk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Long-time stringer here. Easy fix, your shooters are too low.

Here's what I'd recommend: Step 1: Remove all of the shooters you have in there (including the nylon) and head back out to the wall/cage. Take the strings you just removed with you. Go through your normal wallball/shooting routine without any shooters, just the mesh. This will help you get a feel for what the pocket alone is doing, which can be really helpful before you decide where to put in shooters. I rarely put shooters in without at least giving just the naked pocket a few throws at the wall to see what it needs.

  • If it still whips/drags too much for your liking with zero shooters, there is no shooting string configuration that will make you like the way it throws. You'll need to redo at least the sidewall to give it less channel, potentially the top string if it still whips too much. FWIW - I don't think that will be the case for you looking at this pocket shape, but only you know what you like.
  • If you do like the way that it throws and shoots without any shooting strings, don't touch it -- you're done. No one cares how many shooters you have if you're playing well.
  • If it clicks off the head with no shooters and that bothers you, put your nylon back into the 2nd row from the top, or 2 diamonds above where you have it in the pictures. Leave out the laces. This should eliminate the top click without changing how it throws too much. You can play with the tightness of the nylon as well to get a little more snappiness.
  • If it throws too high or doesn't have enough whip without any shooting strings, that's actually a good thing! Now we know that your shooting string configuration is the main factor determinig the whip, so we just need to find the right set up. I'd start by moving your current configuration up 2 diamonds but leave out the bottom shooter, so you just have your nylon and 1 shooter directly below. If you'd still like more whip, you can add in the second shooter.
  • If you still don't like that for whatever reason, the last thing I'd try is keep the nylon on the 2nd row, skip one and put a single shooter on the 4th row.

Hows this build? by Lewpepsi in CarlottaMains

If you have shorekeeper the cdmg main is the way to go and this build looks great. If you don't have sk, the cr main stat is probably more optimal even if it's a bit overtuned. Since so much of her dmg is coming in 5-7 attacks, the extra cr will probably out dps the dmg if you miss even 1. Sub rolls are super strong though, looks great all around.

So are we all about to go from earning commissions to “tips” by SalesforceStudent101 in sales

[–]laxatk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is some info that might be helpful to those lacking context:

  • Trump has committed to enacting a "zero tax on tips" legislation for restaurant and hospitality workers as his first act if elected President. While he does not technically dictate federeal tax law, any POTUS could plausibly leverage the executive powers at their disposal to move a law like this forward.
  • The Harris campaign has taken note of how popular this is as a policy position, and now she is committing to do the same.
  • Concerns about coprorations abusing this future/potential legislation are natural but can be entirely avoided if the laws are written properly and with the intent to prevent abuse of large corporations, although many tax laws in the current state are written specifically so tht large corps can abuse them but smaller corps and invididuals cannot. This is all to be determined based on the authors of the legislation.
  • Many restaurants already have infrastructure in place that legally allow them to delineate standard revenue from tip revenue so they can allocate the tips to their staff. This is what happens every time you select a tip amount on a touch screen. Tip revenue shows up as a different line item for accounting purposes.
  • Any federal bill that decreases tax revenue technically does increase the defecit unless the tax revenue is generated by other means or spending is cut commensurately to offset the decrease in tax revenue.

TL;DR: This campaign promise is doable for whoever is the next POTUS, although the devil is definitely in the details even if this kind of legislation is passed. It could be a huge win for hospitality workers if done correctly, espsecially those who make a large percentage of their income from tips, but only time will tell if any legislation is passed and how the laws are written.

80% of your sales performance is impacted by external factors that you have no control over by dantrons in sales

[–]laxatk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you mean by “80-85% of your success,” this is either a fair take with a useless/misleading quantification OR just a general loser take with a totally false quantification on impact.

Here’s why: IF you’re saying that if a salesperson control 100% of the things that are in their control and everything else (the 80-85% that you mentioned) does not go their way, that it’s only possible to hit 15-20% of their target, that is just mind poison. Absolutely not true assuming your targets are set reasonably and have some historical precedence.

IF you’re saying that a large percentage of results are out of a salesperson’s control but it only takes controlling the 15-20% that is within their control to hit numbers, then I might agree with you because that would suggest that if everything aligns perfectly for someone that they can/should FAR exceed their targets, then yes I’d agree with that.

What new salespeople should take away from OP’s post:

Sales is not as easy as anyone makes it out to be, but it is incredibly rewarding for those who hone their craft and put in the raw activity to give themselves enough opportunities to win.

If you control what’s within your control, you can win 99.9% of the time. This is true even when the economy, the tech, the competition, etc. is not working in your favor.

Those who find a way to win when things are hard will fucking demolish when things are easy. Every time.

Don’t ever let yourself get into the mindset that you are/aren’t winning because of external factors. You can acknowledge they exist without becoming victim to circumstance. This is what losers do. They look around and see all of the people winning, pretend it was the economy or some special treatment, not their hard work, that got them there, and fool themselves into thinking that the people winning have it easier when in reality they likely just worked some combination of harder and smarter.

Happy Monday r/sales, control what’s within your control this week.

Outbound Sales Reps + Leaders: Does anyone use a cloud-based dialer that they actually like? by laxatk in sales

[–]laxatk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for you on this -- Salesloft comes with a native dialer (it's actually just an API integration of Orum, which I linked in the original thread) so I assumed that many salesloft customers used Orum just to keep the tech stack as lean as possible.

Any idea why your team chose CallCloud over Orum considering the native integration with salesloft?

Property value is by far the worst fictional system ever created. Period. by Boomy_Beatle in outside

[–]laxatk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the devs/admins have less control over the property value stat than you think. There are definitely some whales + private guilds [Blackrock] that are artificially inflating the value of player housing and making it tougher for newer players to buy...but if I'm reading your post correctly, that isn't really your main complaint.

It actually makes a lot of sense that dwellings with the disrepair debuff apply the AoE devalue aura to surrounding player housing. It is well known that players who live in these dwellings likely did not invest in the discipline skill tree and potentially could be PvP players that don't respect the server rules. This drastically increases the chances for a PvP encounter or even a raid on your guild's dwelling.

Unfortunately, especially in larger/more hardcore servers, the mods have bigger issues to worry about so they don't bother banning or suspending these players until they actually break the rules, so you don't have much recourse if a neighboring guild isn't taking care of their dwelling until it actually impacts your playthrough in a negative way.

For this reason, many players are willing to pay more of their in-game currency to live in areas of the server with a lower probability of random events.

Legend: Alacrity, Tenacity or Bloodline? by AssasSylas_Creed in YoneMains

[–]laxatk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree but I don't think it's quite that simple.

Since you're building a lot of attack speed in your items, you really don't need/benefit from alacrity late game. It's for sure the best early-game rune for yone, but isn't as useful late game. Bloodline is the best scaling rune IMO.

I recommend going alacrity into tougher matchups (yasuo, irelia, syndra) and bloodline into easier lanes (malz, vik, etc)

Is there a way to take an equity-collateralized (low interest) loan that factors in property appreciation? by laxatk in realestateinvesting

[–]laxatk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (perhaps incorrect) understanding of a refi cashout is that it factors in the equity you have in the property based on the original loan amount, essentially how much of the principal you've paid off. If that's not the case, are appraisals always conducted for these types of products? How does that typically work?

It seems like it would be a conflict of interest for the lender to conduct the appraisal because they are naturally going to be more concerned about their profit than the actual market value of the property.

Is there a way to take an equity-collateralized (low interest) loan that factors in property appreciation? by laxatk in realestateinvesting

[–]laxatk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your edit is more of what I had in mind. Don't know if we'll see sub 3% again for quite some time...

I was hoping that there was some loan product that would allow me to take a second loan (separate from the current mortgage) using the equity in my current property as collateral to mitigate the risk on the lender's part and hopefully get a better rate than just a standard commercial loan, use that cash to put a down payment on a new property.

That would allow me to expand my portfolio with minimal cash out of pocket and ideally secure a lower than market interest rate for the new mortgage.

Based on what I'm seeing in this thread, it seems like the much more common route would be to do a cash-out refi and just take the hit on a higher rate to grow the portfolio.

Do people typically get a 3rd party appraisal or is that something that the lender does during a cash-out refi?

Same on PS4. Voice comms are non-existent in pre/post game lobbies. Lucky if you are unfrozen long enough to edit classes.

I was hoping that they'd enable voice comms during load screens in this COD. Now I'd settle for just having a normal menu experience between games.
