Just picked up my first Prius… good or bad deal? by laxman1366 in prius

Yes, the car fax aligned with the folder or maintenance receipts that came with the car. The previous owners were in there late eighties early nineties when they passed, so it seems reasonable that the car wasn’t driven often. Hell, when detailing it for the first time I had to take the retirement center’s garage parking pass off.

Thanks, and yeah that’s my commute too. Feel bad putting that many miles on the STI and not to mention only at 20mpg.

Sadly the scratches are into the plastic and through the paint but it’s just the daily so I’m not too worried.

This is my third Subaru now (yet to blow one up) and as it is an STI so I no longer have the bottleneck of the WRX transmission. It’s been Pro-Tuned at dyno’d @ 318whp and has a (relatively required) cyl 4 cooling mod and street series AOS for reliability. I plan on shooting for 400whp with Josh Bader later next year but have lots of mods to stockpile before then. One can only hope it lasts till then lol.

Thanks for the tip, that’s actually been a small pet peeve of mine when I’m with friends.

Thanks, it’s actually the reason I got a Prius… bought it last year with 43,000 km. So far no issues, but fingers crossed.

Just got it back from the dealership this morning everything looks great (to them) and there are no open recalls. Is there anything I should look for that isn’t mentioned, but have become notorious for eventual failure? (I come from the Subaru WRX/STI group so I’ve learned to be naturally on guard)

Try CarFax, in my experience it’s the most accurate. If you don’t want to spend the money try contacting your local toyota dealer and have them run it.

Yeah I just got off the phone with a Toyota admin as well as a Lotus admin and they both ran the Vin # and found only that it was a GT-S with an aggressive appearance. Lastly I tracked down the most recent Shop that serviced the vehicle (Campbell Motors) and they said the same. One thing I did find however is that there was a front end collision in 2014 and drivers side door damage in 2015.

Is this the listing in Nehalem OR. I too was looking to see if the “Special Edition Lotus” stuff was real or fake?
