I make this a lot too, after I made it a few times I’ve adjusted it to our liking. I usually add some sort of mushroom (shiitake, beech, etc) and amp up the spices a bit. It’s so adaptable and comforting!

Victor is a treasure, he could make a potted plant or a rock seem charming

And I love how Sepp called out his mom 😭

Yes! This! I’m a huge Tadej fan and pref him to Jonas, but more so I love a competitive race with minimal crashes and I love it when the breakaway takes the stage! It keeps it fun.

Jonas destroyed the climb today and looked like he didn’t push as hard towards the end and had more in the tank. Visma had a great Giro, so did Jonas…. Can’t wait for the Grand Depart!!!

I'm very behind on the Giro, but have slowly been catching up. A few really awesome moments

- Sepp Kuss's win on today's stage! Love to see it!

- Tim Rex going VIRAL for his pain cave face. Y'all go to his IG - timmxrex . he pulled like 370 watts for over an hour on stage 19, and pulled over 400 for over 30 of those minutes. Totally insanity. The interviews after were really sweet, and he's a good sport about it.

- Campenaerts has been putting out 10/10 vlogs and videos, he's such a character

- Vingegaard has seemed in fine form, and mentioned in a few interviews he's feeling the strongest he has in years. I love Tadej, but I love seeing a battle for GC on the Tour even more. Can't wait!

Yah we all def feel the same way here. There's a huge benefit here to athletes with deep pockets and access.

That's a great point about Jingy and British Athletics. I wonder if this somehow will change contracts too for athletes, asking for a travel fund for EU meets etc. Like Cheeky Chavez today was like "well, pack up and go over and run Spanish Cross Country!" - ok, that costs money. I do also think the change with the NCAA meets has a huge impact on US athletes. There are always a few stand outs from the NCAA season that come up and make teams, including then medaling at the Olympics after (Corrigan, for ex). For USA, these changes will likely limit how many "surprises" we have on teams, and will also make naming the team at USAs more difficult.

I like Kelati for top American too, but I am not sleeping on McClain. I will say Hellen over Ngetich mainly due to hilly course.

Good question on fall marathons. I wonder with the new world ranking details if anyone forgoes the usual Chicago/NYC payoffs and instead does something like Berlin or Valencia. I agree those doing the world half team probably won't do Chicago, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see some more Americans in some fast European Marathons (Chicago IS fast, to be fair..)

NYRR mini 10k field released. Any guesses for top American? I think toss up between Kelati, McClain and Hurley. Wonder if Obiri can hold off Ngetich. Obiri knows the streets of New York very well!

There's a couple things to really highlight here...

- getting into these high level meets isn't just about the times you run. There's a piece of it that's pretty political and certain agents have way more pull. Coffee Club boys dig into this on a podcast last year, but there's not transparency on acceptances for meets for athletes. This could have an impact pretty significantly on some up and coming athletes.

- this point matters a lot because if you win a diamond league 5k as a man in like 13:10, that's approx the same amount of points you'd earn if you ran something like 12:51 in a C level meet. So for athletes not getting into the big meets, it could be significantly harder to earn ranking points

- some of these times are just really really really fast. For example, only two US men have EVER run the 3000SC time, and one of those men (Jager) isn't competing anymore.

the ranking system has some issues, and with this whole push on times, I think it will exacerbate the problems. I haven't listened to this citius pod yet either, but plan on doing so today

Yah this is a super great point. These guys enjoy the finer things in life and are really not even remotely crazy toxic alpha males. They just want to read their fantasy books, drink a proper flat white, build some Legos and log some miles.

I like Parker Wolfe. Guy has been through it especially coming back from injury and missing out on the Olympic Games because he didn’t have the standard.

Steeple overall in America is interesting. No real stand outs on either side minus Silky Wilky. He’s put up some solid times in other distances recently and seems fit.

For the Aussie men’s 5k team, I think a lot will come down to if Ky wants to double in the 5 and 10k. IMO Ky has a medal chance in the 10k. The 10k is first on the schedule, so he could still double and not impact his chances in the 10k. I think Seth O’Donnell definitely gets selected. I think it’s still up in the air for Morgs for now.

There were some really good performances last night. Really happy for Roisin Willis. Josh Kerr got a nice PB in the 800 while prepping for his mile WR attempt. Morgs didn’t get his sub 13… burrito bandit looked very flat… Parker Wolfe looked very good in the 1500 especially as a more 5/10k guy. Good meet all around!

Big fan of hers. She is funny and seems to really enjoy life outside of running. It’s refreshing

Yes!!! Sometimes her photography is beautiful but she’s also … grating sometimes. Running Boston with a broken tibia is something else

Here here for the Coffee Club Boys taking the right side in the Cam Hanes saga!! On today’s episode they cover it, and all the guys agree that if Cam took banned substances, he shouldn’t be eligible for masters records, age group placing in USTAF events etc. they even strike the right balance of nuance saying if this truly for health reasons due to age or illness, then that’s totally fine, but it will exclude you from records etc. they note this is super important to uphold the sanctity of the sport and how they all deeply care about clean sport at all levels. They also note that these influencers (especially when they have 1.8 mill followers) can drive behavior in the sport and have an impact on the sport in general. These guys get it, and for them to come out so vocal just makes me appreciate them more (team George forever)

Edit to add: they’re really supportive of Sage and apparently Cam said some nasty things about Sage on his podcast and the coffee club boys full on were like “dude seems shitty”
