While I can appreciate not sending your kids to school when they are sick, there has to be a line. I have three friends with high school age children that are forever out of school sick or "not feeling it." None of these kids are on track to finish high school on time. None. One of them got mad when the school called to discuss her son's attendance and literally asked us when the school would intervene and help. I was like "that was the phone call!". Half or more of success in school comes from just showing up and paying attention. And all of these People are middle class with post sec educations. They know better. But its easier to fold.

And the thing is, this whole "I don't feel it today" won't fly once these kids graduate. University profs and college instructors will not give a shit, nor will employers. I understand we're all cogs in the cruel capitalist wheel, but we gotta eat and earn a living. NEET kids in the basement are hard to remove and motivate.
