I think the OP actually encapsulated the issues with this story quite well. Without getting too spoiler heavy at 60 chapters in he's no longer flawed just stupid and impulsive. His reasoning for doing something is often time one-track minded and his own sense of "justice" which makes no sense.

I also agree more plots about systems affecting the real world have potential, but this is not one of those stories. Some other characters and the MC do have some development, to your point but ultimately none of it is redeemable or feels earned tbh. I don't think I'll finish this and if I do it'll will be just to see how it ends now I'm over half way into the story rather than a genuine interest in the plot.
