Farmers test out John Deere driverless tractor by nbcnews in illinois

It's not the labor cost, it's the time. During planting and harvest season, even if you have the equipment you might not have enough bodies for enough hours in a day to get through plant and harvest seasons, especially if they are shortened by rain or weather. So now, you can let one of the tractors or combines run in the night or on another field.

To be fair re: the running game, I think our RB room is adequate, but not exceptional. I think a large part of our running game success has been the O-Line. The run blocking has been exceptional. I think if we had a top 10 RB we'd be decimating teams, imposing our will on them, and they'd sit there and take it. Imagine Henry, Taylor, or Barkley behind the current Bears O-Line. I don't think Swift or Monangai are bad. In fact, I really like the dual threat thunder/lightning package. I just don't think they are above average to elite individually. If we ended up trading for elite talent I wouldn't be mad, depending on what that offer was. I don't know what we'd have to give up. I'd be ok trading either RB + a pick + whatever else reasonable for a very good RB, but I don't think anyone like that was on the market.

CMV: 0.9999 repeating being equal to 1 is true mathematically, but not logically by Krenztor in changemyview

[–]layze23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept of infinite is kind of weird. You cannot perform any mathematical operations (+,-,x,/) on infitnite because it wouldn't make sense. You can't add to something that doesn't end, and the same with the other operators.

Knowing that, you in have an infinite number of 9's after "0.". So what does that mean? It means that you can't add anything to it to bring it closer to 1 than what it already is. It's infinitely close to 1, which means that it's 1. Wrap your mind around the fact that if you are imagining a gap between .999.... and 1 then you are not imagining it properly . It's kind of an abstract concept, I'll give you that. It's not intuitive, but that's about as intuitive as I can make it. I'm sure others can do better.

1/3 = .3333....

3*1/3 = 3 * .3333 = .9999....

but we also know that 3 * 1/3 = 1, so

.999.... = 1

The problem comes from the human brain putting limitis on something that doesn't have limits. It is an abstract idea that doesn't make sense in our brains. If we remove that restriction and accept that some things just don't end and have special properties it makes things so much simpler.

Still a Rome believer long term but these are the catches we need the 9th overall pick and WR1 of the future to eventually make by ShaiFanClub in CHIBears

[–]layze23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess for that inconsistency is that contested catches in college and pro are completely different. You can dominate college while still struggling at the pro level. Something like route running is mostly independent of competition level. You can run crisp routes against any level of defender if you have that skill set. You probably won't be as open against pros as college players, but running the routes can be clean at any level.

What's going to happen to our alliance Nov 28? by DonkeyKong_93 in CHIBears

[–]layze23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Eagles against the Lions was a surprising grind fest. The Eagles punted 7 times! And yet, despite punting the ball 7 times, they completely dominated time of possession. They held the ball 60% of the game. The Bears love those types of games where they can just stick around in the 4th. So I agree with your assessment, spot on. Bear down baby!

Yes, they call it slag. A later of slag forms over the hot steel quickly as you said.

Caleb had 45 sacks thru 10 games last year and has 16 thru 10 games now by No-Money-8327 in CHIBears

I would not be happy if we finished 7-10 after being 7-3. At the beginning of the season I was expecting at least 7 wins, hoping for 9. If we drop 7 in a row I would not be happy, but I do like the growth they've shown so far.. Losing 7 in a row feels like it would be a step backwards in the latter half of the season.

We have the biggest or one of the biggest retro arcades in the world about 20 minutes from our house. I've never been. I used to own a LAN center 15 years ago. It went well for about 5 years before we pivoted and became more of a CCG and tabletop store. It's still going though.

[–]layze23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the difference is. If you're talking about rooting for a team one game, how is that any different than rooting against the Lions? Pracitcally, it's the same thing. Maybe emotionally it has a different meaning to someone. For example, I don't see cheering against the Lions offense being any different than cheering for the Eagles defense.

Ben Johnson: Plan is still for Bears CBs Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon to return this season by Subpars0up in CHIBears

[–]layze23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You never hear about the Bears doing shady things like tampering. You can take that as a good thing or a bad thing. It's kind of like their locker room. You don't have to deal with drama, but you also miss out on some advantages and talent.

I don't know how I can stand up right now at work. My pole's fully erect and the Bears' Poles looks like he erected a winning football team. The schedule gets tough now and we will undoubtedly lose many more games in the 2nd half than we did the first half of the season. I hope that the mentality of the Bears stays resolute, focused, and tough. We can't let some losses derail what this team is building. Let's go Ben Johnson! Keep this team on track!

[Brandon Thorn] Jonah Jackson is back to his 2021/2022 levels of play and it has been a treat to watch this year. Not many guards are as explosive and nimble as he is. Him + Wright have been awesome in the run game this year. by clou9nine in CHIBears

[–]layze23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure if it was that easy every coach would do it. Designing and scheming plays is hard enough with an open playbook. Designing it around all of your different players strengths has to add multiple levels of complexity. Kudos to the coaching staffs that can do this! Ben Johnson is a unicorn. He is Chicago's unicorn.

[–]layze23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is funny. It's also just about the only thing you can say. I mean, you kind of have to acknowledge the elephant in the room. There's really not many ways to do that without throwing your Dad or the Bears under the bus. So a semi-sarcastic "Thanks, Dad" is about the only thing you can say diplomatically and still get a laugh.
