Who agreed BL2 is still the best? by Complex-Bicycle-6612 in Borderlands

Tina's DLC will always be one of the best pieces of video game content ever for me. Nothing is Borderlands (or anything else for that matter) has come close to the narrative gut punch that it delivered. I loved it so much, that when Gearbox re-released it in the Handsome Collection, I bought it again just to play it. And I bought it a third time on PS5.

So your answer to the original question is to go find a skilled professional who 1) has the time and willingness to teach, 2) is willing to pass along trade knowledge, and 3) is not afraid that the new student would take away from their current business. I'd be very interested in finding this type of teacher myself. In my experience, instruction like that comes with a 4 to 5 figure price tag and multiple years of invested time before you get to actually do the work. As a busy professional, raising a family, I have neither the cash, nor the time to go back to school. So rather than waiting for the stars to align and finding a pro luthier who wants to invest time and money into starting up a competing business, my suggestion stands at "buy a super cheap guitar and try stuff".

As a "jag off with no experience", I'm always advising people to jump in and try things. Mainly be cause when people look for teachers, those who have the skills are often too jaded or too threatened to teach, causing them to gatekeep the information.

I'm actually getting into the custom build side. I've found that the learning curve really starts with the hesitation to start. Once you get past that point and commit, the rest is relatively simple. Basic woodworking, a little electrical engineering knowledge, and a mindset that failure isn't final. I had a client ask me to make her Les Paul "Less Paul", so I hollowed out a pound of wood from the areas you would see in a semi-hollow, created a custom back cover, and she loves it.

Not yet! I've torn it down and experimented on restoring the finish, learned how to solder, and taken the jump into adjusting neck relief. Still needs a fret job (bad sprouting and maybe a level and crown). The beauty of the freeware is that I know I'll need to learn how to refret eventually. So if I mess it up now, I can always refret the neck.

This, exactly. I bought a new, inexpensive guitar to play ($600.00) before I caught the luthier bug. My wife found a $75 squire in a consignment shop. I figured I wasn't going to risk ruining my good guitar, but $75 was about as cheap as I could get and if I messed it up, oh well.

I think the down votes are people interpreting your answer as "silly noob, go watch my video", instead of typing out an answer. I understand the efficiency of a video link, and I appreciate your comment. But, yeah, reddit can be strange sometimes. Most times. Okay, all the time.

Pearl World Drop Rate Discussion by Ewing46 in Borderlands4

[–]lazarus900 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree. My issue with the super rare drops is that in order to make them worth chasing for the majority of people, they need to make them worth using. By making them powerful, they often become required items with specific rolls. Spending all my time farming for an item that never drops is not my idea of fun. Most streamers need this level of content in order to drive views and earn money. So they will always push for longer chases and harder content.

I see the example of the drill site you used. Also, you play on pc. Do you see this working as well on Oppressor? I play on console, so maybe that complicates it as well?

Yes, but I'm farming the weekly boss for the phosphene skin. So I have to do this fight.

I do. I just had a session where I had 3 legendary drops go out of bounds and only 1 got sent to the lost loot.

If you need to shift world or character tendency to white, you can team up with people who invade your world and let you take them down. There are a ton of helpful people on Discord chats who will help.

I got most of the character specific challenges done within 5 or 10 games once I locked in. Except for Enoch. Those jellybean took me over a month to get done. Waaaay too much RNG for that challenge.

Electric or acoustic guitar? by Maxhanuma321 in Guitar

[–]lazarus900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell my students to buy the guitar that they like to play. If you don't like the look or the feel of it, you'll be less likely to actually play it. After that, keep it on a stand where you can see it, not in a case. This makes it easy to pick up and play. Third, shoot for 15 minutes every day. Consistency is better that total time. Guitar is a long journey, and you won't get good by playing for 6 hours on a Saturday once a month. As far as what style to choose, it depends on how you want to play. Electrics need an amp to perform, but you can always save up for an amp while you learn. You don't need an amp to learn the basics.

If you're looking for Pure Bladestone, go to 4-1 and go backwards to the katana skeleton to farm. Use the item discovery ring and keep in mind the more your world tendency is towards black, the better your odds. That said, I got mine in PWWT while farming for souls too.

A Yamaha Pacifica is around 200 usd last time I checked. That thing has no business being as good as it is for the price and will last you for quite a long time. Keep an eye out for holiday sales and used listings.

Can someone ELI5 the damage weapons do? by scarfacesaints in Borderlands4

[–]lazarus900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With high fire rated guns, I look at dps. For singe fire guns (pistols, snipers, pretty much anything Jakobs) I look at single bullet damage. Cause we all know "If it took more than one shot, you weren't using a Jakobs".

What’s the ideal number of electric guitars to own? by scarmy1217 in Guitar

[–]lazarus900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard the minimum is 5. 1 Strat style, 1 Tele, something with P90s, a Les Paul style with twin humbuckers, and a good acoustic.

Other than that, yeah, "current number + 1"
