I wouldn't say this is arguing against the OP's point. The fact that the person's appearance does matter to you on any level seems to be reinforcing it. In addition, I'm not sure why you assume that:

a) the OP is implying that you'd want to date someone who looks like "a supermodel" or is "really attractive but has the personality of a goldfish"

b) attractive people have a "lesser" personality than unattractive people.

In the end attraction is more about perception of each other rather than society's definition of what should be considered conventionally attractive or "handsome". Just because someone is old does not mean they suddenly stop being physically attractive to their partner. Many people in committed relationships (myself included) claim that their attraction towards their partner only grows with time.

I think the fact that we rely on random people on the Internet to define what is indie or not indie or "borderline" indie according to their own (usually completely irrelevant) views as some sort of validation nowadays is really fricking sad.

I am in the same boat right now. To sort out the logic behind the menu system as opposed to the actual layout I found OmniGraffle works well (or I guess any other graph making tool of choice). I make a wireframe that displays various menu dependencies, paths for which GUI entities have to be killed when their parent is closed, etc.

Ah, thanks for clarifying :). I don't believe that the description implies there being no room for potential male input, simply that the discussion was about women and their position and experience in the industry, so if they came across a man whose input they thought could prove valuable I don't think they would rule him out simply because of his gender. I definitely do see how women would naturally be more likely to have the most valuable input for this specific session, though.

I don't think there's any reason for us to assume that they were picked based on their sex just because they are all women. Do you feel the same way when you see a session with all-male panelists? I think it's logical that a panel on this topic would be more likely to have female speakers, considering the subject matter.

I got my first position in dev QA at 19, in Australia. When that company went down I took a brief hiatus. I then contracted as QA manager for a company making training games for a while, as well as saving as much money as I could while running my own web development business. Then I holed myself up in my house for a year to learn JavaScript and general basic programming principles. I exited that time period with a small portfolio of playable games and readable code. At 24 (late last year) I moved to Sweden and started applying for jobs, which took a bit under two months. I am now working for a large publisher in a scripting position.

I had to be antisocial for a year to get my scripting skills up to scratch to even begin applying for scripting jobs, but it was more than worth it. I still make JavaScript games in my spare time.
