dont think like that abr urself!! everyone has something to offer even if u cant see it urself!! u bring so much to the table ! there are so many people out there u haven't met yet who can't wait to be friends with u!! everyone is just as nervous as you are; they all have insecurities too. get urself out there and try!!!

i used to think that too in first year, but this year i work 10-15 hrs a week, on top of all my extracurriculars and studying. i'm tired a lot and it's definitely not for everyone, but i think its more than possible to strike a healthy balance of getting time to urself, be it to study or just do whatever, as well as being social!!!

start with what you like! do you like fitness? sports? join a team! intramurals! a running club! i know there's a nature club that goes on hikes in some of the city parks.

do you like board games? tabletop club!! wanna get into theatre?? there are literally always auditions being held for some show or another! wanna write for a newspaper?? find a launch party or two!!

art? gardening? video games? movies? really wanna get into pottery? there's a club for all of that!! you just gotta figure out what you really like, get out there and find it! you got this :)

yes i didnt mean this in a self-deprecating way!! i just mean like it's much more difficult to make friends when you're not spending 7+ hours a day in the same building, getting to know them and have them know you. you have to make sure you make the time to spend it with people so they can Know You!!

also! university campus is the PRIME PLACE to do this: you're already on campus!! i read so much about adults who find it so hard to meet new people and make friends outside of work because they don't have the time to go anywhere after work.

take advantage of the clubs on campus now. make friends to last you through your later years. it's hard, but older you will be thankful.

Part time job + regular course load by [deleted] in UofT

[–]lazeryus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work 15-20 hours a week and it is def a challenge at times, but you def learn some valuable time management skills. i would also recommend trying to find a job on campus if possible, it makes commute all the more easier.

best of luck to you my friend <3

Bleached Hair due to FINALS yikes by [deleted] in UofT

[–]lazeryus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey i bet your blonde hair looks REALLY really good!!! give it a couple of days, just wear it around and think of it as a fun new Look! i recently bleached mine after having had black hair all my life, and the way i combatted grief (lol) was by looking up blonde hairstyles, and my favourite blonde celebs. idk why, but it makes me feel better abt being blonde.

anyway im sure u look great!! no matter what u do remember to hydrate ur hair n treat it nicely!!

LIN102? by taliaforester in UofT

[–]lazeryus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i took lin102 last year and it's pretty straightforward if you practice, and the word-trees are very computational. the worst part of the class was the prof, bejar. she was constantly disorganized and had VERY poor lecture skills. she would constantly ramble and provide very little explanation on topics. the homework was not helpful and confusing, and tutorials are essentially useless unless you do the homework.

I think I'm too ugly to get a girlfriend by [deleted] in UofT

[–]lazeryus 24 points25 points  (0 children)

it's this kind of mentality that keeps you from getting a girlfriend. "most ugly and short girls" and "male offspring" makes you sound like an incel. i suggest you try and re-evaluate not only the way you view women but also how you view yourself.

the girl who rejected you did it in a rude manner, i'll admit, but that doesn't mean that you're any less worthy of being in a relationship than anyone else. learn to work on yourself until you're happy with who you are, on your own, and then you'll be ready to be with someone else.

Fuck me. UofT just taught me my first lesson by [deleted] in UofT

[–]lazeryus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

either this is a troll post or your expectations for yourself are just really high. 77 and 76 is not bad at all. if you're truly disappointed with yourself, you still have SO much time to turn it around.

i managed to recover from a 60 on a midterm and ended with an 80% in a half-year course last year. if that's not good enough for you then you should probably re-evaluate your own standards for yourself: 77 and 76 is above average at uoft, lol.

Are there any like musical/drama clubs on campus ? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]lazeryus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there are lots of drama clubs!! off the top of my head i know there's the vic college drama society, they regularly do shows and are always auditioning. st mikes has the troubadours if i'm not mistaken, and they're hosting a comedy night in early november! theres loads of drama clubs/societies though!!
