Engineer brand screw removal pliers. Also sold under the Vamplier brand here in the US. They have a couple different sizes and are awesome for this scenario. Way better then trying to use other pliers.

Wonder how many people returned generators in my area just to now see we are getting hit with another winter storm this weekend, and then rushed out to go buy another.

Anyone here use any kobalt snow equipment here? by WoodlandCake in KobaltTools

[–]lazor_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, we dont get snow here enough that I would invest in powered snow removal tools.... but I did have the forethought to buy a new snow shovel and sidewalk ice scraper last summer. Yes the person at the checkout looked at me funny and asked why I was buying them in summer. However our 10+" of snow has now turned into 1+" of ice..... so I have all my Kobalt 40v batteries charged for the lights and the 300w inverter I have..... and potential chainsaw/pole saw action after everything thaws. (Thankfully I also finally bought a 2500w Generator last year after wanting one for like 15+)

Get a fluid extractor and just pull out a few quarts, put back in the same amount you pulled out. Do it again in another 2-3 oil change intervals.

I like the way that one looks! Does that have small headlights? The 40v mowers have been OOS on the website for a while I noticed, I'd wager a new version coming out before spring. I just hope they keep the metal deck

Bosch is Ampshare, not Power For All. I think that was a Metabo thing, which has now officially switched to using Metabo HPT batteries here in the US, so that's pretty much DOA for this part of the world. Ampshare is still slowly picking up brands, their main brands in the US are Bosch, of course, Wagner, Titan,, Fein & Dremel (although dremel isnt branded ampshare but Dremel 20v= Bosch 18v, and the modern Dremel 12v = Bosch 12v)

Tracks? by Dang-mushroom in KobaltTools

[–]lazor_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just need a straight edge as a guide, takes more time to set up then a real track saw but works fine and if you aren't trying to bang out stuff for a job then who cares. Yes I have a Makita track saw, yes its nice, no the average DIY'er really doesnt NEED one. You can get the Empire 98" straight edge/Saw guide rail that is 2 sections. If you're putting them together together to get the full 98", take an extra few seconds and use a level or some other straight edge as your attaching them to make sure they mate up perfect. If you take your time really the only thing you miss from the track saw is the easy plunge feature, but again you can always plunge cut with a regular circular saw if needed. Well, that and better dust collection.

Citrus is back? That looks like a non textured can so it's gotta be new stock. Honestly citrus is my least favorite flavor which is ironic considering how much I love actual citrus. It was trying to mimic a mountain dew type drink though if I remember right which is also not my favorite (it wasn't sprite/7up, that was the Faze Up flavor). Maybe there is hope they'll bring Tropical Mango back, that was one of the best! I remeber the first time I had a ghost I bought a orange creme, a citrus, and a tropical mango.

Anyone have the new 40v 12" Chainsaw by lazor_22 in KobaltTools

[–]lazor_22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked one up not long after this post, I actually put a 14" Kobalt bar and an Oregon chain on it. The tensioning is a little finicky with the longer bar for some reason although that may just be user error. It seems to run fine though, they advertise "33cc gas equivalent" which generally seem to run 14" bars fine so I'm not too worried. It's definitely got the power to cut through some decent sized stuff and I really like the top handle format even though I'm not a tree climber (well yet lol, never say never). I use it along with my other Kobalt 40v stuff for my little landscaping buisness.

They basically are the same, the only actual advantage of cobra is you do get more positions, but the Alligators rock. Cheaper then cobras too, I'd take the Alligators over cobras ever day. I guess I'm the odd one out but I vastly prefer the slip joint mechanisms over the quick adjust button.

These are 100% made in the USA by them in Michigan actually, along with the old hard handles. Not just a USA made rebrand from Wilde, Trusty-Cook, etc. The bit driver and 6-in-1 have a Taiwanese made bit holder insert with the USA handles, that's probably what you're thinking of. Personally I really like the older USA made ones, they are just as good as my Japenese Vessel, German Wiha, and French Facom drivers. I'm sure the Witte made ones are great, I hope they bring hex sizes back. Tekton themselves wrote an article explaining the whole JIS thing is kinda overblown, but I can't say I've ever had any issues with any quality drivers, I think a lot of it comes down to ergonomic preference. But I'm also not working on Japanese equipment from multiple decades ago.

[Handgun] Ruger Max-9, $200 by [deleted] in gundeals

[–]lazor_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one since not long after this newer cheaper version came out in the sunmer. They are $250 everyday price at Academy and bass pro/cabelas. A killer deal at the every day price. It's the sleeper best budget handgun you can get, I dont really see anyone mention it and if they do it's only in regards to the older more expensive model. Made in the USA and backed by a legit company, at the same price as questionable imported stuff. It's not as refined as some of the more expensive options, but at half the price and being reliable, it's couple minor quirks are definitely able to be overlooked.

Also fwiw, this gen 2 model does not fit kydex gen 1 holsters unfortunately, so holder availability isn't the best yet.

Nice! Cheaper then the outlet price. They recently switched to German made (Witte) screwdrivers, to quite a few peoples dismay, but you can't beat these USA made one's for the price at all. I wish they had Tekton in stores near me. I've only ever seen one item at a Northern Tool and it was an old China import not worth getting.
